Default Upgrade Telenav 4.7 to 5.1

Please Login to Remove!

How can I upgrade my Cingular phone that came with Telenav 4.7 to the new Telenav 5.1? I have looked for a download link but came up short. The one I did find doesn't seem to work (TeleNav) Any advice? Also does the 5.1 version include the Traffic alerts? and Voice over Bluetooth?

You have the 8800c from your profile so you need to upgrade the OS from the Cingular version to the Rodgers version. Once you do that, delete v4.7 of Telenav and download 5.1. That worked for me.

Yes, v5.1 does have traffic and voice over bluetooth.

Oh alright.... Do I loose any functionality when I change the OS from Cingular to Rodgers? Also how hard is it to do that? I've never done that before so I don't want to screw up my device. Any guides or tuts you would recommend?

Oh and as always thanks !

I just upgraded to the latest Cingular OS release two days ago, then deleted the Telenav 4.7 application, and downloaded the 5.1 version over the air, and it's working like a champ.

What is the "latest Cingular OS release"? And, did you do this yourself or did you go into a Cingular store and have them do it?

Thanks.

FWIW, I didn't need to upgrade to the "latest Cingular OS release". I am still on Cingular v.4.2.1.72 (Platform 2.3.0.54) and TeleNav v. 5.1 installed and works just fine on my device....

Out of curiosity how did you get it to work, I have an 8800 with the same OS as you and when I go to the OTA download site it gives me 4.7.0.18 to download. Do you have a link to another site?

Thanks!

I went to TeleNav

Works swimmingly. The upgrades are not insignificant. The incorporation of traffic info is huge, but minor changes (like the addition of an ETA) are also very nice. I'd still like to see a compass added to the navigation screen, but what'cha gonna do?

Ok so the secret is putting "tm" as the last 2 characters instead of "at" I am downloading it now so we will see what happens!

Foiled again!

Downloaded and installed fine, I get to the Login screen, enter my phone number and for password I type my PIN and I get "Cannot connect to server [2}" error message.

It must have been a temporary issue because it works just fine now. So glad this is finally working!

Yeah, I think the issue is that this is a T-Mobile release (hence, "TM"), not a Cingular/AT&T release (hence, "AT"). In any event, it does work -- at least for me -- even without the "latest" (read: Rogers) OS....

FWIW, the ATT/Cingular-specific version of TN 5.1 (5.1.0.29) is now available for D/L at TeleNav.

.20 was for T Mobile doesn't have an option for external GPS. .29 was for Cingular and does have the option.

I just installed .29, but when I try to log in......it won't let me. Gives a server connection error.

I first deleted my 4.7 version. Then downloaded and installed the 5.1 on my non-upgraded Cingular branded 8800. When loading the program, the password it asks for is the last four digits of your phone number.

The upgrades in this version are stellar. The program is much quicker, it has the ability to map directions based on traffic updates, and you can also set it to simply follow your current location (show where you're driving without having to enter a destination)

Just upgraded to 5.1 and it's great! The only downside is that the traffic feature doesn't apply up here in the Great White North I do like the dynamic map feature - makes it more useful mounted on the dashboard like a std GPS unit in the car
