Default Desktop Manager (BIS Mode) for BES User(s)

Please Login to Remove!

I'm wondering if anyone knows if there is a workaround to this.

I've got a user who is on our BES, but would still like to be able to import contacts & calendar entries from his personal laptop. This means that his laptop has outlook, but no connection to my Exchange server.

When attempting to use Intellisync, it fails saying that Wireless Sync is enabled. Is there a way to allow this so the user can input contacts and calendar entries on his PC and download the changes to his handheld?

TIA

You need to disable Wireless PIM Sync and Wireless Calendar to do this.

If this is just a single bulk import I would recommend having him just import the PST into his mailbox on your server. If he wants to do this regularly then he's not going to have Wireless PIM or Calendar and won't sync any data with his work mailbox.

on my work BB I sync only messages; my calendar and PIM data are all manually sync'd with Desktop Manager when I cradle.

Throw another wrench into this ... our BES is Domino and I PIM / calendar sync to my Outlook OST.

It gets real messy, and frankly if you've got to support this I would recommend playing around with it for a bit as its not standard at all; but it does work.

Hope this helps and / or makes some sense.

Makes perfect sense.. I just don't think that it's going to work for him. He's a contract employee, so we don't provide the laptop or any network access from the outside..

He's primarily on the road, so rarely/never logs into a workstation w/ Outlook access. He's on the BES, w/ Wireless Sync enabled so that anything he enters in his handheld is sync'd into Exchange.

Unfortunately, the one time dump isn't really what he wants to do. He wants the best of both worlds - Wireless Sync 90% of the time, and wired 10%... Apparently, the rationale is that it's easier to enter new contact and calendar items into Outlook and then suck them down via DM... Then wireless sync would dump the data back into Exchange.

I'll have to see if TSupport has any other workarounds, but what you've stated sounds correct and I'm doubtful that he's going to be able do what he wants to do.

Thanks for your input.

If you get anything different from TSupport I'd really appreciate knowing what they recommend ... a little bit of selfishness here

TSupport agreed with you:

Your Service Request has been resolved.

Details:
User needs to know if it is possible to do both wired and wireless synchronization at the same time for a specific PIM item.

Resolution:
Mentioned to the user that it is not possible to do both wired and wireless synchronization at the same time for a specific PIM item.

im sure all you have to do is go into the PIM database on the blackberry and turn the option for wireless to "off", then when ur done turn them back to "on", works fine.
