I tried searching for this and couldnt find anything.

I am going to be canceling my BES service soon and was wondering how I went about moving from the BES environment to the BIS one. When I cancel the service and plug the phone in to sync will it duplicate all of my claendar and address book settings? Do I need to do something before I sync in order to prevent it from doing this? Anything else I need to know before making the switch?

BIS doesnt sync anything it only puses the email to the device. you will sync calendar and tasks with the desktop manager using outlook

There are settings in the SYNC...if you set conflicts to 'handheld wins' (if that is in fact what you want) then you won't have to worry about duplicates. If the contacts and/or calendar entries are identical, it shouldn't duplicate them, but I always found it easiest (if not safest) to delete all calendar and contact entries from Outlook and then sync with the handheld, thus ensuring only one copy of each on the device and the local computer.

There's not a chance I would delete the contacts in Outlook. Not a chance. I would rather wipe my handheld (which isn't a bad idea anyway in this case) than delete my contacts from Outlook.

But, to answer the initial question, I would suggest exporting your contacts and calendar to back them up, just in case something goes wrong.

Yeah, it can go either way...deleting from one is no different than deleting from the other as far as I am concerned (so long as you have a backup, as you mentioned).

I just did the same thing...switched from BES to BIS. I did it specifically to move away from Outlook though. I wanted to be free of Outlook before I buy my Mac in a couple weeks (Entourage sucks).
