It works well on Sprint. However, just note that the speakerphone blast that people refer to is a problem with upgrading. I never had it with the stock 4.3 that Sprint supports, but now that I've upgraded to this 4.5.0.122 revision I've had the speakerphone issue twice. The second time it was really loud, albeit very brief. Truth is, I personally wouldn't have upgraded had I realized how loud the blast is. I may back down to 4.3, although I'm concerned about screwing up my device. What a horrible bug, and a bit of a disappointment from RIM. This is the kind of stuff I'd expect from Palm, not RIM.

hi jsanders......I just switched from the blackberry 8310 [att] to the 8330 [sprint]; for cheaper service purposes. The sprint's curve does not support a sim card, and i was wondering if you knew of a way that i could get my address book to my new device. Thanks!

Can't you use the BlackBerry Desktop and use the option available to sync data from one device to another? I was able to use it to sync my WinMo data from my Treo 800w and it worked flawlessly.

So Sprint users are having the BLAST as well? Is it only when you're using Speakerphone?

I have a SPRINT 8330 v4.3.0.127 and wondering if I should upgrade.

Also, do I need all the Blackberry software on my computer, or can I just do the install off any PC with a USB cable? I never bothered to put any of the software off the CD onto my PC. The BES seems to be doing everything I want, and I just do my software installs OTA up until now.

Question Works for Verizon

The only thing I see different is that I no longer have the choice of recording in mp4 for videos...It is there in the help, but no option. Did I miss something?

On the speakerphone blast... I had that, but have not experienced with this OS version.

Hi to all.
New crackberry owner as of yesterday. Been reading the forums here and some others. Great info.

My bb came with v4.3.0.127. Decided I wanted to start off as current as possible as I want the html emails and the docs to go as well. So here's what I did...

Downloaded and installed dm 4.7
Downloaded and installed os 4.5.0.122
Removed vendor.xml file
Ran dm- device up to date
Read FAQ's here- did a modify on the dm install to not look for updates, reinstalled os, removed vendor file, rebooted pc
DM found the os but eventually came back to device up to date.
Searched pc for any vendor.xml file, none found (even in hidden and sys folders)
Uninstalled dm and os and reinstalled, unchecking updates from the start and still nothing.

So...what did I miss?

I've experienced the blast just three times. It is very intermittent for some reason. All three times I've had my bluetooth headset activated, and when I pressed my headset to accept the call, a short blast came through the speakerphone. Thankfully, it didn't blast through my bluetooth headset, or else I'd be deaf in that ear now.

As for the BB software, I'm new to the BB OS, so am not an expert by far. However, I've found that most programs will install OTA, but there are some that require installation through the BB DM.

The blast is very intermittent. I'd bet you'll see it eventually.

I'm on Sprint and have experienced the blast with this updated OS. However, it is very intermittent as it's only happened 3 times in the almost two weeks of being on the upgrade. I hope the next version fixes it though as although brief, it is so loud.

I just bought the 8330 with the 4.3 OS. What would be the benefit of downloading the 4.5 software? Whats changed? My BB works fine right now.

having read all this, im still lost. A couple of weeks ago, i installed the 4.5.0.77 on my Verizon 8330. Ive now got the speakerphone blast almost on every call (irritating yes, but not that big of a deal to me).

This new OS in this thread, is this a beta? I went to Verizon's website, and according to it, the latest is still the .77 which i already have.

I guess bottom line is, should i install this new version to my BB?

The OS version 4.5.0.89 linked in this thread is not a beta release. It was released by Alltel. The latest release by Verizon in 4.5.0.77 which is why you find that on Verizon's website.

But you can load 4.5.0.89 by downloading the file from the link in the first post and by following the instructions.
