Default 8130 memory capacity

Can someone please tell me how much memory capacity my 8130 is supposed to have?

I am a bit of a neophyte at all of this stuff this but will try to make sense: My verizon device tells me (when I go into "status" under "options" that there is (I think) some 50mb (50462720...) of "File Total", which is comparable to 2 other of my friend's verizon pearls. However, co-workers have t-mobile and at&t pearls that indicate 64mb (some 64,000,000). I am trying to figure out the reason this apparent difference.

Does all of this mean that my device has less memory capacity than t-mobile and at&t (my understanding is that all of the pearls are supposed to have 64mb of memory), and if so what is the practical significance of this to me?

Thanks in advance for any help on this.

you have the new pearl, so your memory should be the same. i know my sprint comes preloaded with a bunch of crap that takes up memory.

if you delete the service books and the applications, you will free up some memory. also, follow this link from BBFAQ.com its the sister site of this one and has loads of info on it

Thanks, Dan.

I do plan on going in and doing some deletions when I have some time, but in the meantime I was wondering why my verizon device (and my co-worker's) did not reflect the same amount of memory under "file total" (which I was told is supposed to represent total amount of memory) as the non-verizon pearls (my co-worker thinks that our phones were loaded with less than the 64mb as specified, but I was thinking that there may be a different reason).

My Telus Pearl 8130 shows the same 50462720 bytes under file total. Dumb question
but are you sure the devices showing 64,000,000 are pearls and not curves?

I show the same 50+ for total memory. The number you need to be concerned with is the free memory. The Blackberry is self preserving and starts dumping old stuff when the memory fills up. The FAQs are full of tips to prevent b using up memory and how to create new free space. I would have long ago given up on the device without the FAQs.

Yes the devices have 64mb of memory. Previously the device would show the full total memory, but after a few different software updates the memory stated as AFTER essential OS files. 64mb is the total, but only 50 is realistically available if you remove EVERYTHING.
