Default Storm 9530 unlocking question..

Please Login to Remove!

hello all, thanks for looking. so i just got off the phone with verizon global support and they gave me the NETWORK MEP code, entered the # they gave and it said "successfully unlocked" or something similar. i turned off my phone and added a Tmo sims to the phone. i went back to options>sim card>network only to see it says ACTIVE. Before i turned off the phone the status of network was INACTIVE because it was unlocked. So, i entered the MEP code they gave again but this time i got a message "code error" can somebody tell me what im doing wrong and how am i able to unlock the phone again? i tried calling the Tmo# but it wasn't working and the then tried calling the bb# and it rung with the Tmo sims in the phone. weird? it can be very frustrating i've tried everything i can think of for almost 4-5 straight hours. any help, hints, tips very appreciated!

First under Mobile Network have you switched it to GSM / UMTS ? If not and a Verizon account is active on it the Verizon line will be used.

this is getting ridiculous. i called back and requested a new MEP code, unfortunately it was the same code as i had before. the rep said there was nothing he can do but to send me 2 new phones(both phones were inactive, now active) because there was an error, or possibly because i tried too many times and it locked the phone. so its pointless now. thanks for the help.

i was talking to a verizon rep before unlock my blackberry and he told me that when i go over seas i should call them and they will give you an unlock code for that country. the code that they give is not going to work for every country network thats what he said so im really not sure if this guy knows what he is talking about.

I'd go with he doesn't know what he's talking about. The code you entered is the one to unlock the phone for ALL GSM carrier SIM cards.

When a phone is unlocked you will be able to use it on any network, if it is a gsm phone it will work on most networks in the phone. There is no such thing as having unlock codes for each country. After you you enter a unlock code on a blackberry you will see that the Network Lock on the phone will be Disabled.

Thank You

Do you need to have a Verizon account to call and try getting the codes?

yes you need to be an active customer of theres before they give you the unlock code...

tho some unlockers can get the codes now for verizon... i can, not sure if horizon can yet, try getting in contact with them and find out

edit: Horizon can get them as well
