I couldn't agree more! A Storm with a slide out keyboard....there's an idea. Let's see it RIM!!!

Just a comment on this OS version - while some have reported that the issue with 3rd party apps not saving profile settings when the device is rebooted is fixed I have found this to only be partially true on my device. In my Loud profile, they all seem to be saved - in my Normal profile about 1/2 of them retain their settings and the rest do not.

I say upgrade to the new leak 5.0.0.415. The SMS issue is resolved.

The only thing I don't like about upgrading to this OS from .321 is that whenever I am listening to music or watching a movie on my BlackBerry it will reboot it self after a little bit. I never had that happen to me when I was running the .321 OS

i just have a quick qustion about upgrading to a newer OS. im currently running the OS 5.0.0.334 which came with the phone. Do we always need to upgrade to a newer OS in order for our phone to run better? What are some things that happen to your phone when you upgrade? Faster browser? better quality on youtube?

Some will say that you should never upgrade unless you are trying to resolve a problem. Others upgrade to get the latest and greatest. Typically subsequent releases fix minor bugs, add new features, etc. But fixing one problem can introduce new issues.

The exact answer to your specific question is: yes and no.

I don't know where you guys are getting 45 minutes to an hour from. I got my phone yesterday, and it came with 5.0.0.296. I just upgraded it, and it didn't take anymore than 15 minutes.

Don't see any problems. Not getting the SMS number problem some people seem to be having.

Latest and greatest is the way to go.

Also, why doesn't this update show up through Wireless Update under Advanced Options? I tried to update this way before I downloaded this, but no new update showed up.

The Wireless Update only allows you to upgrade to a software versions that has been approved by your service provider (e.g., if you're with AT&T, ONLY AT&T approved/released versions will be available).

so I just updated to this new build from the one that came with my device. What I notice is on the home screen the lower 4 or 5 default icons are grayed out pretty much more than the previous verision, is there a way to get them to light up like on the bold 1?

Help!!..

I had downloaded the update and installed into my PC. After installation, i deleted the vendor file and re-sync my Blackberry 9700.

Each time it update, i hope it could update my phone software, but it keeps showing "No Software update required for your device".

Weird. I want to have the capability to read Chinese on my handheld :(

Anyone can help.

Thanks!

To load it on your device you have to use loader.exe

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.
