Number one... Get the latest version of the software for the PHS300. That proved to be the key for me. There is also a page on their web site that details how to get the 9000 working. I used that process. I also believe I was at version 5.0.0.593 on the 9700 when it started working for me.

Seems to take about 20-25 seconds for everything to sync and lock in. But after that it worked fine.

Hmmm... I have the current f/w for the PHS300 and what is currently available from the AT&T site for the BB.
Here is what is on the BB "about" screen:
v5.0.0.405 (Platform 5.1.0.112)

Where did you get that version of the BB Software? I saw one from CSL Limited with that version.

9700 | Archives | BlackBerry Rocks!

I had also been following the Cradlepoint page for the 9000... even before I called support with no luck. Are you using BES/corporate servers? I think I am running into a security problem. Whenever I turn on the PHS300, the BB brings up the Mass Storage password prompt. When I disabled Mass Storage, I still get a "Media Transfer Protocol" password prompt. Regardless of whether I add the password or not, it get a red network connection light. Maybe the OS update fixes that...

FYI... On the PHS modem tab, I see all the BB stats, it just says "offline".

Thanks for your continued help!!! I think I am close...

To get the most current version of the 9700 software, look at the top of this sub-forum for the 9700. There is a link there to the most current released version.

I am on a BES. I have told my 9700 NOT to prompt me for a Mass Storage prompt.

This is the link I used on the CradlePoint site.
Cradlepoint Knowledge Base :: How to connect a Blackberry to a router

I simply followed the steps listed there and my 9700 started working after about a 10 second startup delay.

I did use one option there... About half way down, you will see a heading like this:

If your ATT Blackberry is detected, but not connecting, try the following:

I used the SECOND option with [email address] & pw:CINGULAR1

After a reboot, all worked great.

dbltap... THANK YOU!!! It worked! So, it was definitely the OS version. I had added/changed each part one at a time. The final was using 5.0.0.593.

I really appreciate your help!!! You ROCK!!!

Thanks again!

Yeah.. I figured it was the OS version too. Glad it's working for you. Not as cheap a solution as the app on the Palm Pre. But it works. For me it's very useful when I am traveling on AT&T's International BlackBerry plan. I don't use it a lot for a lot of data. BUt when I want to fire up the personal iPhone for a few things or if I need to share some quick connectivity with a friend, it's a great solution.

Not a cheep solution. And requires an extra device. But it definitely works. I have it running on AT&T just like I do for Blue Tooth tethering. But this way all my devices that need wifi to connect can share my 9700 3G connection. This is something I would use when there is no other option in some countries around the world where they want way too much for wifi. My BB international data plan makes this very efficient for that kind of occasional use.
dbltap, how did you do it with your 9700? My PHS300 doesn't detect my bold 9700
