Default Trackpad not working?

Please Login to Remove!

One of my, and I'm sure some of yours, worst fears.
My trackpad isn't scrolling at all.
Just happened moments ago.

I've done 3 battery pulls and I'm wondering what to try next.
I highly doubt it's an OS problem and even if I wanted to re-install it, I can't because I have a mac.

Any adivce?

^ I hope you know I'm talking about the trackPAD not a trackBALL.
It doesn't move in any direction.

Still tried what you said and it didn't work.

Just making sure:

The device power was on when you did the battery pull?

You waited a good 30-60 seconds before replacing the battery?

Do you see any other symptoms/weird behavior?

You might do a security wipe and select the option to delete 3rd party apps, just in case there's a software conflict causing the problem. Then see what happens.

Whoa. I did another battery pull and let it sit for over a minute and now it works. That's odd but thank you! I wonder why a quick pull/put back in doesn't work? I did that 3 times.

Excellent.

I don't know why, but, given reports over the years, sometimes the 2nd, 3rd or 4th battery pull does the trick. Sometimes leaving the battery out for a minute or two instead of just 30 seconds seems to be the trick.

Glad you got it working.

mental note not to post before caffeine fix.
Sorry for that, glad you got it fixed.
By the way do the usual repair shops online stock the trackpad as a repair part or a handset replacement is needed if the part is broken?

Trackpad started going out a few weeks ago. Had an OS error so I restored it. Trackpad issue still there. Decided today to reinstall the current OS through the Blackberry Desktop Software and so far it looks good.

I had a feeling it wasn't hardware. Once it dies, it's usually dead. This one kept coming back, so had to be software.

After numerous battery pulls and reboots, this seems to have worked.

Question

So.. im having the same problem.. my trackpad isnt scrolling at all. and it was just all of a sudden. it happened last week, i was using it that morning, left for a few moments, came back and it wouldnt work. i took out the battery a couple times for about 2 minutes, just turned it off a couple times, and it was a hit and miss with those, whether it would work or not.. so i called my provider (AT&T) and since my warranty is up, they wont do anything, but the guy was nice and told me i should think about replacing the trackpad. so i did so. i bought a new trackpad, got a video online about how to take apart my phone, carfully did so, and it worked for a day, and boom, $25 later and its still not working. is there something im missing..? or is my phone dead?
