Default OS: 9700 6.0.0.1879/6.0.0.448 (All Languages)

Please Login to Remove!

BlackBerry Handheld Software v6.0.0.1879 (All Languages)

Package Version: 6.0.0.1879
Consisting of:

* Applications: 6.0.0.448
* Software Platform: 6.6.0.124
* File name: 9700AllLang_PBr6[1].0.0_rel1879_PL6.6.0.124_A6.0.0.448 .exe
* File size: 174MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

* Download Software: BlackBerry Bold 9700

Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 9700:
1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Vista/Win7 users: In the apploader folder, simply click on "Compatibility files" to see the actual Vendor.xml file. Once you've got that - simply delete the vendor.xml file there (even if you've deleted or think you've deleted it in the folder previously) and voila, it will allow you to update to the newly installed OS!
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a black "BlackBerry" screen with a status bar for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again, and it should load the OS to the device.

For the previous OS, see this link: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ml#post1700449

Any difference between this one and the 'leaked' version? Is the cursor back in BBM?

I have been using this version for about a day now. All the cursors (SMS, BBM) are there. Fast and good.

FYI, for themes. You need to look up 9780 themes in order for it to work (most 9700 themes are geared toward OS 5).

Cheers,
--Phil

Can anyone help me out here? I want to delete the Help app, but there is no delete option when I press the menu button for Help. I have deleted other apps this way so it's not like I'm missing something (or am I?). It also does not show on my list of Applications on DM. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I seem to remember that you can do that at time of OS installation, but not sure after OS has been installed. Maybe someone else knows if it can be done post installation.

There is an application developed known as BBHybrid (Download BBHybrid Tool (Public Version) | Twitteling) which will shrink an O/S including the removal of fonts, language files, help files, non-wanted os applications etc...

Good luck,

The cursor is still missing for me in BBM. It has appeared in SMS though.

No option to hide certain trays yet - please RIM, this is very annoying!

Still has cursor issues in BBM, and that hasn't changed, even with the upgrade to the new version of BBM, recently released.

How does this work post installation? Does it reinstall the OS completely or does it just remove the components selected? Thanks.

Still generally happy with it... The main issue is that the Bluetooth headphones keep cutting out... That is really annoying. They have become very suceptible to interference in this version. Was fine before... Workd fine on train though as it must be acting like a faraday cage!

I don't have any Bluetooth issues on my BB's with any OS; never did and I have my 9780 and 9700 paired with multiple Bluetooth devices. I'm guessing that you may have issues with the device you're connecting to, rather than the BB. I use BT to connect to the handsfree and the multimedia head unit in my vehicles as well, all with no disconnect issues. It's possible you have some corrupt data on your BB...so you might want to try a clean load, with no data and then re-pair your Bluetooth devices before reloading the data.

It's some kind of interference as it's fine when indoors or in train/bus/car. Could even be electrical interference from the weather...

Just a heads up, the BBHybrid Tool link above works, however the download link does not.
