BlackBerry Handheld Software v5.0.0.760 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 5.0.0.760
Consisting of:

* Applications: 5.0.0.461
* Software Platform: 5.2.0.42
* File name: 8900M_PBr5.0.0_rel760_PL5.2.0.42_A5.0.0.461_COSMOT E.exe
* File size: 125.59MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

* Download Software: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...3779A17ADF1707

Instructions to install on ANY 8900 from ANY CARRIER.

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Hi:

Not working block key, unless you have password setted.
Some problems with 4.6 themes.

I think Caribe95 meant to say that this version does not allow you to lock your device unless you set a password (even using the shoulder lock key on the top of the device).

Also the "k" shortcut to lock the screen has been removed altogether.

The biggest setback of this version I've seen is the need to manually connect to wi-fi networks.

In order to connect, you must check "Enable single profile scanning" and select the specific profile. When you go to another wi-fi area, you must manually set the connection while in that area.

The only other problem I've seen not documented on the beta forums is trying to read reviews on App World. I've been getting "There was a problem reading data from the server and BB App World must exit".

I've been using 461 since the leak was released, having used 5.0.411 for a few weeks prior. The minor issues I was encountering with 411 are fixed with this build. UMA has been perfect as well.

It's worth the upgrade. I've not had a single issue.

Wirelessly posted

I think the sms issues are solved as well... I don't text, so I don't know for sure, but I think I remember somebody saying that the SMS thread bug is a thing of the past with this bild.

Installed without problems. My Wi-Fi connection to the home network will not connect anymore.
What does it mean "blacked Out" for the Bold 9000?

possible that the DHCP issue hasnt been fixed yet. Static IP's dont work, so youll need to try a DHCP assigned address.

Would these releases be identical to the beta version that's been out for a short while, or would there be expected to be small cosmetic changes?

No, it is fixed. You can use static IPs with this build because I am using them with no problems (I reported the problems here with 5.0.411).

I've noticed two problems with this release. One involves 3rd-party software. Both are WiFi-related.

1. If I'm running JiveTalk and let my BB go idle while using WiFi, it goes offline and will not go back online until I switch to EDGE. I've tested this behavior multiple times and it's invariant. As a workaround, I've set JiveTalk's connection preference to EDGE and that works.

2. On WiFi, YouTube videos will not play in the BB browser. I get the "Loading" message and it just stays there. They play fine on EDGE.

Just installed, and the lock key on top has been disabled - any ideas how to get this working again? Just trained myself to use it - also would like the unit to lock when inside the holster....
