Default BES email and Hotmail to same blackberry??

Please Login to Remove!

I currently receive BES emails for work. I'd like to also connect to my hotmail but keep it totally seperate from my BES email. Basically, i don't want to route it through BES to receive it. If I create a Web Client email address will I keep it seperate?

If I can do this, how will i then access my hotmail? will i access through the web browser (currently i get a java not enabled error) or will it create a folder and be fowarded to that folder?

Please explain. Thank you.

Yes, as a general answer.

You will encounter a couple of problems... one, most Hotmail accounts are NOT accessible on the BlackBerry in BIS as a restriction from Microsoft. Only the older Hotmail accounts will work, others must upgrade to Hotmail Plus.

Two, yes your use of the personal email will be trackable by your BES Admins.

The error you are getting is likely because you can't access that webmail on the browser.

Yes, they can see what web pages you visit, I don't know about content.

That is IF they want to, I have no idea if someone is sitting logging and observing your every move. But they can.

Bottom line is this: if it is something you don't want them to be aware of, don't do it.

How to what?

We attempt to use full sentences where at all possible. Even with a language barrier, please try.

as a general update to the above posts, LIVE mail/ Hotmail/ MSN mail are now accessible via Blackberry BIS and dont require a premium POP3 subscription.

A bit of advice. If you have a company supplied BB on BES and the company pays the bill, get a separate device for your personal stuff. Much safer that way. Given the current economic environment, many firms are looking at every which way to reduce costs (including letting employees walk). Best not to give them anything to think about.

well put, i agree.

In July, i seperated my BIS accounts from my work Device and now have 2 devices; 1 for work, 1 for personal use.

i dont even have BB messenger on my work device(personal choice, concern for privacy). strictly email, and work calls.

my bottom line philosophy: anything that touches my work BES is stricly work.

I was having this same discussion with a co-worker yesterday. We work in the IT field and he has a company phone. I choose to keep my own and use the company email on my regular BIS account. They wouldn't be able to track my other accounts on my phone through my BIS could they?

Nope. As long as it is your account, paid by you, not without a court order or your permission, AFAIK.

BIS accounts dont allow for remote administrative access to your device as it doesnt instate security policies.

long story short: youre safe; all they can track is your work email account

It is my understanding that any incoming emails to your device from BIS cannot be seen or monitored by your BES Administrator. They can HOWEVER see any emails from your device that you send out, regardless of what account you use (BES or BIS).
