Default 'can't open this item unable to open the free/busy information'

Please Login to Remove!

Exchange 2003 sp2 bes 4.0 SP6.

outlook 2002 sp3 user has access to a blackberry users calendar who is out of the office. When he/she access the users calendar they get the error message 'can't open this item unable to open the free/busy information'.

When the user is back in the office with outlook open everything is ok.

As a workaround I can run the outlook.exe /cleanfreebusy or outlook/cleanschedplus it fixes the problem but then comes back again when the blackberry user goes out of the office.

You realize this is an Exchange and/or Outlook problem and not BlackBerry, correct?

Read up on this Free/Busy Folders in Exchange Server 2003 in Depth

You might want to look to upgrading Outlook to 2003 / 2007 if it is only this one user having the problem.

I can undertstand what your saying but the problem only occurs if the BES server publishes the free busy information.

If he didn't have a blackberry the problem would not occur.

Verify the Exchange dll's on the BES are at the same version or above the version on the Exchange server(s) for both of these users.

Have you tried removing this user from the BES and setting OOF and seeing what happens? Are you seeing anything funky in the logs for this user? Perhaps up the logging level to 5.
