Default BES on exchange need to know outbound ports!

Please Login to Remove!

Due to the Hurricane we've lost our FIOS and will likely be out for a week. As a result I've gotten a 4G card and am running it on Win 7 with ICS. I've been sucessful in putting this in front of my checkpoint router and have restored internet and exchange email (via the pop3 connector). BES is another story. I'm guessing it has to do with the fact that ICS is a port driven proxy and I need to add the ports (services) in order for it to allow them outbound.

I just added tcp 3101 but things have not come back to life.

Does anyone know what other outbound ports I need to add? Are there any inbound? Remember this is for BES only, exchange is working again because it sends/receives email through the pop connector which is already part of ICS.

Thanks.

Default Re: BES on exchange need to know outbound ports!

Got it!!!

I sniffed the wan port and got a few more, I surfed the internet and got a few more. I put them all in as allowed outbound and BES started working again. Sent a bunch of test msgs, meeting appointments and file attachments and all were received on the outlook client and BB.

I'll post them tomorrow for discussion, tonight I'm beat and as soon as the files are on my thumb drive I'm going home. Well, my temporary home, my real home is in darkness for night 3.

I also deleted from both ends just to make sure updates were going through.

I must say, I'm pretty proud of myself. I spent more time trying to get around floods to purchase the 4G card than I spent restoring the services. Let's hope the power co and verizon get things patched up quickly. At least I'm ready for when this happens again.

No power, no FIOS, and if you were sitting in my office you'd never know it. A whole house generator and this stupid little 4g card plugged into a mac mini running win7 and it's like nothing ever happened. Of course the dreaded fax machine is dead, but I'm a tech not a miracle worker. Tomorrow I get back to my day job (building houses).
