Default pics: black bezel & Oyster Tote Case

Please Login to Remove!

Hey just thought i'd share a picture of my black bezel and new case.. the case doesn;'t have a belt clip at the back, cause i hate wearing my phone on my belt!

waiting for BSE or some form of full body protection..

i couldn't save the warranty stick ; < i slipped and the tweezers punctured the middle of the sticker ; <

so here are some pics to let people know what it looks like
(sorry for the bad pics.. just point and shot haha didn;t care about lighting etc)

Is the bezel plastic or metal? How hard was it to change it? Did you take pics?

The bezel is plastic, gloss black
The bezel fits just as nice as the stock one (minus the lock and mute buttons at the top, it is missing these)
I don't have pictures of taking it apart
and The sticker is right over the hole where the screw is.. the slightest tap can puncture it cause there is nothing under the sticker the space.. so it;s quite hard

it is the stock bezel but it does not have the wiring for the unlock/lock buttons for some reason.. unless i got a dud. all the wiring for the unlock/lock mute buttons are built into the bezel ..

yes i voided my warranty but i am gonna try and tell them tht it never came with a sticker.. hahahaha.. we'll see if they bite that.. worth a try!

awww what a pity, it's very handy to have the lock buttons working, but well it's worth it with the black bezel....where did u get them mate? is it a pain dissabling the curve8900? i saw the video on cnn where u need to detach the antenna cable as well, was it part of the job? i thought only the bezel, shouldn't be that dangerous......

i have ordered mine of cnn, should come in a day or two, any tips worth listening? the tools i got is the T6 and the plastic stuff,.....is that enough?

thanks mate

update:

someone on crackberry.com took pics on how to transfer the top buttons from the stock silver bezel to the black one.. the buttons are thin pieces of film that are stuck on by double sided tape..u just gotta carefully peel it off and put it in the exact same spot .. and it works..

taking apart the phone is a breeze... you do not have to take the antenna off as it has nothing to do with the front faceplate.

Looks great. Did you have to remove the screen to change the trackball like on the bold? About how many screws were there to remove and replace during this mod?

there are 6 screw and i don't know how the bold is but the screen is apart of the main circuit board so the bezel comes off of that

That's nice! I'm definitely gonna do this when I get mine.

When/if you need to do a warranty replacement just take the sticker off the replacement they send you.

Does the Oyster Tote case cause the same battery drain issues the OEM sleeve does?

I just changed my bezel. Super easy as long as you remember not to put the screws back in before the other parts.

Do you need to remove the antenna cable do replace the bezel? That's the only thing I'm a little worried about.

Just ordered the black bezel and he black trackball the G1 uses today. Going allllll black - should look super sharp.
