Default OS: 8900 4.6.1.158/4.6.1.94 (Multilanguage)

Please Login to Remove!

Software For BlackBerry® Curve (TM) 8900 smartphone
From Rogers; this will load on any carrier's 8900 device.

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.6.1.158 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.6.1.158
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.6.1.94
* Software Platform: 4.2.0.69
* File name: 8900M_PBr4.6.1_rel158_PL4.2.0.69_A4.6.1.94_Rogers. exe
* File size: 120.82MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download HERE

Instructions for installing either version on ANY carrier's 8900:

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

For the previous OS for this device, click here: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ilanguage.html

Cory,

Any way you can let the rest of us know what you deleted and how you did it? Perhaps a modified ALX file? I would love to get rid of stuff that's not necessarily needed, like the pre-loaded sample pics, etc. etc.

Thanks

Has anyone else experienced issues with the Profiles after the upgrade? My email alerts, SMS or Phone alerts do not work anymore. Every time I try to access the Profiles and click on Advanced, the phone freezes. And every time I restart the phone, I get an "Uncaught exception: Java.lang.NullPointerException".

Any help?

You're not having any ringer issues? Have you tried to open the Profile option and then tried to go into advance and change settings? It doesn't freeze the device?

Default 4.6.1.101

Pre-installed on my SIM free 8900 which arrived today.

Early days, but stable so far.

I have also not had an issue with this on a Rogers 8900 phone. I can edit profiles (and have been doing so before knowing this may be an issue) and vibrate works fine. I have the stock OS and have not changed anything in terms of removing apps.

Okay, I fixxed the issue with my T-Mobile 8900 on the .94 Rogers Firmware.

What I did is take the T-Mobile Firmware copie all the *profil*.cod to the new .94 Rogers Firmware and it worked perfect.

I am now on the .94 Rogers Firmware with my T-Mobile 8900 with out any problems.

To the best of my knowledge .94 is pretty good and stable. Most people haven't had any complaints.

I've been running with this OS version since I got it. The only glitch I have is sometimes when viewing a contact, "Edit" isn't in the menu. I have to go back to my contact list, select that contact and click "Edit" from the menu there. Only happens every once in a while tho.
