So I just got a 7100i as a gift and I'm using nextel service. Ive read all the posts on here about the problems with text messaging but cant seem to find the simplest and most efficient answer to the problems. SO....on top of the voice plan with text messaging I already have, all I need is a data plan (probably the unlimited plan) to text?? This will allow me to mms or sms other people within the boundaries of my plan? And is this the best way of going about it?

Text messaging does not fall under data. You will need a data plan to receive email, browse the web, etc. I would recommend an unlimited plan, just to prevent any outrageous bills.

jsconyers dont give information about things you dont understand. Blackberry's were built when texting wasnt popular and in order to get texting on it they decided to go through data instead of rebuilding a whole new phone. Getting a data plan on the blackberry to text isnt only the best way, its the only way!

Not true, I'm afraid.

I am looking at a 7100 right now which has NO DATA plan - yet happily sends texts via GSM
