Default 6710 phone problems

Please Login to Remove!

After successfully upgrading to the v4.0 OS my 6710 now won't make outgoing calls.

I can make calls to customer services, and emergency calls ... but when I try to dial I get a pop up that says "Sorry only emergency numbers allowed". I can send text messages, but all incoming calls are diverted to the answerphone.

The phone isn't stolen, but appears to have a bar on incoming and outgoing calls.

Yet, I figure that any preset bar would have been wiped with the OS upgrade?

Help with this please, and can anyone tell me what the default passwords are for the 6710 ?

Cheers Ears

The bars are usually on the network side, if the device is having issues communicating with the network then it may not be receiving the proper information, I would contact you service provider to ensure that everything is setup correctly..

Also you want to make sure that the Phone app has been loaded into your device, goto Options | Applications and look for 'Phone' if it's not there reload your handheld software..

The only other thing that I can thingk of is if you're on a BES contact them to ensure that they haven't disabled calling on your device..

Thanks for your help, I've checked the security option and discovered that there is an item at the bottom that has confused me;

IT Policy Name; NO PHONE

The 6710 was bought used off ebay, can I alter this?

Post try deleting the database

Since the IT policy says No phone.
It means whoever you bought it from was using this bb with the BES (blackberry Enterprise server). Try backup your data first or sync the data. then deleting all the data from the bb.
To delete the data from the desktop manager software.
goto backup/restore icon, then advanced. select all on the right window which is your handheld database. click clear button.

Tried this to no avail, the 6710 will still not work as a phone.
All latest software added with no problems.
Does anyone offer a service to remove the IT policy bar?

RIMHelp - you can not erase an IT Policy by deleting data. You can't even erase it by running javaloader and wiping the BB clean. IT Policies stick.

b1ackb1rd - It is not easy to remove an IT Policy. It is possible. Search for IT Policy on the forum and you may find someone who can help you.
