OS4 install problems
Please Login to Remove!
I have a BB 7230 unlocked but branded with TMobile. I use Rogers Wireless in Canada.
I just tried to download the latest Hong Kong CSL of V.4, and I installed the file. Absolutely nothing happened. Once installed, I looked in the BB Desktop manager, and clicked About. It said that the Handheld was running version 4.0.2.35 (Platform 1.6.1.51), but the Blackberry About said that it was still running Platform 1.6.0.49. It never installed the new OS on the Blackberry.
Any idea what to do? ![Smiley](http://www.blackberryforums.com/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

You didn't install the firmware on the phone. It looks like you just loaded it.
Did you delete the vendor.xml file like I said after installing the file below? You must do that before you launch the application loader.
Make sure this was what you downloaded and installed

I'm curious as to why you would load the HK handheld OS as opposed to the Rogers version?
cd.

He's got an unlocked TMO phone on rogers. Really he can load whatever but HK CSL has the latest 7230 code at 4.0.2
I've loaded 4.0.2 on a few TMO phones with no problems.
When complete, the 7230 should say:
v4.0.2.35 (Platform 1.6.1.51)
Cryptographic Kernel v3.8.0.27b
...
MIDP-2.0
JTWI 1.0
Media: 1.1
PIM 1.0

Well it backs up the data during the OS load anyway.

Be warned that the reboot stage after an OS load can sometimes take up to 20 minutes of the phone just sitting there with an hourglass.

Backups are done automatically during the upgrade.
Install the software above.
Delete the vendor.xml (search for it in c:\program files\)
Open Desktop Manager
Open Application Loader
Follow the instructions.
Uncheck the Chinese stuff.
It is nearly impossible to screw up the phone without a hardware failure. Just don't disturb it during the upgrade. It will take a while.

And even if there is a hardware failure, you can usually recover the device anyway...

[X] Tasks

For some reason in the App Loader it just says "Connecting to handheld (JVM)". It doesn't move...

If this is during the install stage, DO NOT DISTURB IT.
If this is when you first launch the application loader, try rebooting.

First it was during the inital, but now during the inital stage. A box just popped up with a Retry or Caancel button. It said that it was unable to connect to my handheld.

Close out of everything, plug into a different USB port, try again.

Sounds like you need to reload both desktop manager and the BB OS. Your BB doesn't seem to like the HK OS.
