Default How to remove or disable password on 8330

Please Login to Remove!

Is there a way to remove / disable password use without wiping the BB?

Verizon 8330 BIS 4.5.0.77

I can change it but see no option to remove or diable it.

Option>security option>general settings... but if you have an IT policy you might not be able to remove it.

1. There is no IT policy set (NO BES).
2. There is no option in General Settings to remove or disable, only to Change Password, Wipe Handheld or Verify Security Software.

(This is a new Verizon 8330 - less than 2 weeks old.)

In the main screen click on the wrench key (options) and follow my 1st post and change the setting from Enable to Disable and save.

I have followed your directions and there is NO choice to Disable. only those noted in my previous post.

BTW, The icon displayed for Options depends on the Theme and it is not a Wrench with the VZW Theme.

The first line in General settings should be Password. Highlight where is says Enabled and press the trackball (not the menu key) and change it to Disabled.

When I press the trackball I do not get the choice, I only get the menu, the same as if I had pressed the Menu key.

Where did you get the device? Was it second hand? Is there a small red lock next to Password?

Also, are you sure you're at the very top of the screen, where it shows Password and you have the word Enabled highlighted?

It was purchased directly from VZW - as new.
There is no red lock.
The word enabled is highlighted when I press the trackball.

(Very frustrating)

Very odd.

I would try a battery pull and try again.

What happens if you press the enter key as opposed to clicking the trackball? Still get the menu?

Go to Options > Security Options > General Settings and scroll to the bottom. What does it say?

I just checked her Desktop Manager (via VPN) and Synchronization indicates

"Your Blackberry Enterprise Serverdoes not support wireless message reconciliation."

I guess this is due to improper option selection at installation of the BDM. Can this be corrected by a reinstall? If so, will the new option take effect if not physically attached?

Sounds like you have an IT Policy. Is there anything next to IT Policy name?

I think that the best thing to do since she needs her BB over the weekend, with her address book and email intact, is to wait until Monday and then Wipe the BB, uninstall and reinstall the Desktop software and go from there.

Thanks very much for the help.
