1. There is no IT policy set (NO BES).
2. There is no option in General Settings to remove or disable, only to Change Password, Wipe Handheld or Verify Security Software.
(This is a new Verizon 8330 - less than 2 weeks old.)
The first line in General settings should be Password. Highlight where is says Enabled and press the trackball (not the menu key) and change it to Disabled.

Where did you get the device? Was it second hand? Is there a small red lock next to Password?
Also, are you sure you're at the very top of the screen, where it shows Password and you have the word Enabled highlighted?

Go to Options > Security Options > General Settings and scroll to the bottom. What does it say?

I just checked her Desktop Manager (via VPN) and Synchronization indicates
"Your Blackberry Enterprise Serverdoes not support wireless message reconciliation."
I guess this is due to improper option selection at installation of the BDM. Can this be corrected by a reinstall? If so, will the new option take effect if not physically attached?
Sounds like you have an IT Policy. Is there anything next to IT Policy name?

I think that the best thing to do since she needs her BB over the weekend, with her address book and email intact, is to wait until Monday and then Wipe the BB, uninstall and reinstall the Desktop software and go from there.
