Question Does BlackBerry Curve (8320) works with Comcast email?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,
I set up my Comcast email address on my BlackBerry today, I can send emails just fine but I can't receive any eamil at all.
I call T-Mobile and they tried everything at the end they ask me to call Comcast because all other email address where working fine.
So I call Comcast, I speak to 2 rep and both of them where not sure!!! Is like umm....yes then ummm no.....ummmm u can go on to comcast.net on your phone to access your emails. So at the end they say no......but to me I think they really DON'T KNOW!
My question is do Comcast email address work on BlackBerry?

Thanks in advance!
Benny

Yes they do something else must be wrong, try pulling the battery off for a few minutes and then put it back on, leave the BB powered on when you pull the battery.

I have my comcast email coming to my BIS account.

How do you have it set up?

Set up Internet E-mail > Email Accounts > Add An Email Account > enter my email address and password

Thats how I set it up and the T-Mobile tech support tried to delete the email address and tell me to set it up again, I probably have done this at least 2 times.

try to re-set it up again, leave the password blank so you can get to the advanced settings page then try to input the correct email server address

I have Comcast and get the emails fine.
Would this be a reconciliation issue by chance?
Try and resend your service books from T-Mobile again.
Good luck.

Now you tell us. I assume you never bothered to read the FAQ to see that BIS works with about a 15 minute delay.

well the way email works with the blackberry (besides the blackberry.net and gmail and any BES accounts) is that it polls every 15 minutes. if it finds something then it will check back every 5 minutes for 3 times. if it continues to find email it will continue to poll every 5 minutes. if it does not, then it will go back to 1 time every 15 minutes.

Why hasn't anyone told you that before?!?! You're kidding, right? Maybe because up until a few minutes ago you kept insisting that you couldn't receive email at all, rather than explaining the TRUE situation?!?!

I think definitely somebody "DIDN'T KNOW" here, but it wasn't the poor T-Mobile reps, Comcast reps, or posters here that you wasted the time of!

If you'd like instant email from your Comcast account or any other POP3 acccount. Open a gmail account. Forward all email from your other POP3 accounts to the gmail account. At the BIS website for your provider, setup and poll the gmail account. Gmail has an agreement with Blackberry, which makes it almost instant.

I have multiple POP3 accounts forwarded to my gmail account and I get the mail instantly. Addtionally the SPAM filtering at gmail is darn good.

Hope this helps.

well its more of the type of email setup gmail has rather than their agreement. the only true instant email is either BES or the xxx.blackberry.net email address. Yahoo has full 2 way sync, and gmail is full 1 way sync. imap4 email will usually come in much faster than the pop3, unless your BIS polls right at the instant the email arrives.

something no one mentioned was whether or not another email client was checking the comcast email account. like leaving outlook running on your home pc. if it pulls the email off the server at comcast then there is nothing for the blackberry server to check which means you won't get the email sent out to your device.

just figured i'd mention that in case someone searches this thread in the future.
