Battery Life on .291 has been fantastic.

I have a few apps open all day, about an hour or two of phone calls and I am BBMing all day long. I am almost getting 11 hours of juice, a little less with Wikitude open all the time.
Probably because .291 was made only for YOUR device. No one else can get that version. What did you do to get that OS...combine .261 and .296 to get .291?

Day 5, and I've yet to have a day (under moderate use) where I can make it past the supperhour on a single charge. This is a problem, IMO

Extended batteries would be out in no time. Even if a larger door is required to fit them that NFC coil in the back doesn't look like an extremely complicated piece of engineering and it would either transplant over or most likely reproduce cheaply.

Anybody shot a mail to Seidio yet? They're usually pretty quick with customer support.

I "visited" my 9930 at my local Sprint store today. I was there when the UPS delivery arrived and the rep pulled my BlackBerry out. I opened it, played around with it, and then had to put it back in the box until Sunday, 11:00 AM. They'd get royally reamed if they sold it to me early and I tried to activate it. So for now it was a conjugal visit.

You should have requested a demo unit to mess around with while in store so you'd receive yours nice and tidy with security tapes in place. Now your open handset would essentially become the store's demo unit for anybody that "wants to have a look" and in 3 days it would land on your doorstep.

No demo units. They won't put one out until Sunday and I plan to be there at the opening that day. Mine is locked in the owner's cabinet in the back. I put the screen protector back on, and I left the tape on the back in place. If I show up and it looks like it was handled or passed around in any way I'll get a different one. They got 6 of them and I'm the only person who has asked for one to be reserved.

You'll love it, except for the shitty battery life.

So far for me the battery life is about the same as my 9630. Not wonderful but not bad either.

Got my 9930 on Tues...so far batt life is very good! Took off the charger at 12noon. Been using it all day, plenty of phone calls, lots of texting and bbm'ing, and a good deal of internet usage....its almost 3am here in NY and I still have 45% batt life left after some pretty heavy use. As of now, better then both my 9000, and 9700. Very pleased so far!

An educated guess for now. There is nothing to prevent it other than the NFC coil loop that would reproduce in far asian lands for the cost of cents.

As i said already Seidio are rather nice with support. Shoot them a quick line and ask them.

This post is very contrary to others in this thread, and I find it hard to believe that the 9900 will surpass the 9700 in terms of battery life. I don't think any device ever can.

I've had just about every Blackberry over the last 7 years, and trust me, I have no reason to lie...lol, nothing to gain! However, so far the battery life is just as good if not better then my 9700. Now take into consideration, I'm talking about the 9930 on vzw, not the 9000 running on a GSM carrier like Rogers or at&t. Most of the reports coming back are for the 9000. Can't speak for the battery consuption on that one, only going by my expeience the last few days with my 9930.

My experience so far is that the battery life is super horrible. However, I've been on vacation in an area with a sh*t signal and I'm sure it's been working hard to find one. I've emailed Seidio and they've got a list they'll add you to, to be notified when their battery available for the 9930.

I'm hearing more good things about battery on the 9930 as opposed to the 9900. I wonder if it's CDMA that's eating less battery? I hear about and have experienced mostly lousy battery life on the 9900. I'm on my 2nd 9900 BB, for other reasons, but battery is horrible on both.

My 9650 battery life was great unless I went into fringe coverage areas. That constant seeking of a signal will kill the battery in no time. I don't know if GSM is any better.

Today was my first half-day with the 9930, and so far it's close to my 9650. Maybe a tad worse, but certainly nothing to concern me. And folks have said that battery life actually gets a bit better after a couple chargings.

Maybe Seidio will come out with a higher-capacity battery that fits with the standard battery cover. Not a double-power one, but perhaps a 15% or 20% increase in capacity with a high-density configuration. Or something like that.
