I have a backup of my old bb9900 that was "lost".

I have a new 9900 that I want to activate my yahoo email on there.

BB only syncs today's emails but I would like about a months history.

When I do a restore (after activating yahoo), it overwrites the mail that it has already downloaded when I activate and they are no longer on my bb so I lose todays emails up to the current time.

If I restore first, it creates the mail icon for my yahoo account and I have my old emails but I have to go activate it. Activation clears the mailbox and now nothing gets downloaded except new from that point on.

How do I get my yahoo mail back on my phone with my backed up emails?

This is the same issue with my gmail and my hotmail accounts as well but I use yahoo primarily.

If you are using POP, you will only get mail from the time you set it up going forward. To get old mail, you need to sent each one to yourself.
