Default MMS Nextel 7520...thank GOD!

Please Login to Remove!

Aight the only problem left with my 7520 finally solved...called nextel and said MMS was a go. Make sure you updated to 4.1 and then they had me go to options=>advanced options=>host routing table click trackwheel then click register. Then take your battery out and put it back in and there you go. Make sure have mms on your plan so you'll probably have to call to add that. Hopefully this will help for some of you young nextel users

What is the difference between having someone send you the pics via email compared to using the MMS feature? Thanks.

Just did what you said, and I now have the "Compose mms" option now.

I didn't even need to call nextel....sweet

MMS on Nextel is like SMS on every other carrier. I got into a debate with Nextel over this. MMS is Multimedia Messaging Service. Nextel uses the MMS service instead of the SMS service for SMS/MMS messaging (plain-jane text messaging). If you want to be able to text people like every other carrier does, you have to add MMS messaging (Unlimited with Nextel is like $15 if I remember correctly).

Its kind of confusing, I know. If you add the MMS service (or dont, but you pay per message) you can text just like a regular cell phone, and it's only like this that I know of with Nextel. At least they finally added it!

Do you still have to add one of the text message plans with the unlimited email and web plan $49.99? If so, what would be the benefit of doing this compared to just using services such as teleflip.com?

OK, what I like to know is if they finally got it fixed. Does it show who send you the text?

i called them tonight and they said that for the most part it was down, and that when it does start working it will be 25 cents a message. the rude lady also told me that she knows of no plans for MMS for the blackberry and why would i want one anyway if it isnt' working

i dont' really plan on using this.... i'm just hoping that when i get a text message from someone i will be able to finally see who its coming from... will SMS messages translate into MMS?

Ok, this is what I found out. The red "x" probably means that there is a restriction on the incoming and outgoing MMS (whether you know it or not) on your account because you have a bb in the first place. They said that they block MMS because it sometimes causes a problem with the service. Who knows the validity on that one??!! Sounds kind of crazy to me. Anyway, once I got BB support to lift the block and master reset, take out the battery, etc. it worked fine. Yes, you can view who sent a message to you. Its very similar to "normal" text, and the person you send an MMS message to see your phone number once again like a "normal" text. The feature is pretty nice, I just don't understand the reason of having an "unlimited data plan" but (by the reps words, and me knowing that its still "new" so he might not have known fully what he was talking about as far as pricing) having to pay an extra $15 or $20 for a MMS package. It seems like it should be just added into the rest of the package. I think over time, once the new-ness of "I can finally send a text with my blackberry" wears off we will probably go back to sending text messages as emails. I've got by without the MMS for this long...but like I said, its a nice feature. Hope this helps.

Just wondering what sim card you guys are running in the 7520 to get mms? I have a 64k (yellow card), was my old 7100i sim card (mms capable). I know the old 32k and most 64k sim cards can't do mms. Just wondering how there going to get mms on a 32k.

I have the 32k sim card that came with my 7520, and it works just fine, you need to have a 32k sim in order to save your contacts to the sim

That is odd. I'm not too sure how they get mms on the 32k sims. For example if you put a non mms 64k sim in a i860 it will not have mms capability. But none the less very glad they added it.......

The only thing mms is good for is attaching files to an email

Has anyone actually verified this? I had someone send me a text message last night, and there was nothing that identified who the message was from. The only thing included was the message itself and a date.
