Default Syncronization problems

Please Login to Remove!

Hallo,

i have the following problem: If an user opens an reads an email in exchange/outlook, the same mail is still unread on the blackberry handheld device. The same happens, if an user opens and reads an email on the blackberry handheld, the mail is not marked as read in exchange.
If i syncronize the Blackberry handheld im Menü Messages, over the menu and "syncronize now", the changes on both sides (exchange and bb handheld) are sucessfully syncronized.

We use MS Exchange Server 2003 Std + Blackberry Enterprise Server for Exchange v4.0 + SP2. The handhelds have all software version 4.0 installed. The complete syncronization of mails, calender,... is done wireless.

Has anybody information, what to do?

Thanks
Roland

Can take up to 20 min to reconcile, depending on email traffic

I am having the same problem somewhat. We are using version 4.1 of BES and model 7100 handhelds, synching wirelessely. We also use Exchange for email.

When an email comes into Outlook, and is read. That email shows up as unread on the blackberry. If an email has been unread in both places (outlook and the blackberry) and is read first on the blackberry it will sync correctly with Outlook and Outlook will display the message as read.

I need for messages that are read in Outlook to show up as read on the blackberry, so that it is not just showing up with a bunch of new messages every time it syncs. If I use the desktop manager and connect the blackberry to the PC running the manager software to sync it, the messages show up correctly on both devices.

I do have the checkbox for "Enable Wireless Message Reconciliation on this server." checked.

Anybody have any ideas or solutions?

Thanks

It was taking longer than expected to reconcile between the two devices. I didn't actually change anything, but talked to some different users who I asked to not change any messages manually on their blackberry and to wait and see what happened. So eventually after about 30 minutes it reconciled correctly. Jus heavy network traffic at the time i suppose - it is much faster now, around 15 minutes...

FYI - The BES will attempt to reconcile changes ( such as read/unraed email etc ) automatically every 15 mins. This is hardcoded on the server and cannot be changed.

The only way of making this quicker is by using the 'reconcile now' function on the device.

Im not sure how viable this is for each of you but I have the problem too, im using an 8700c, exchange 2003 and BES 4.0.4.5.

I decided today to try restarting the blackberry server, since it seems the problem comes and goes, and sure enough... about 10-15 minutes after i rebooted the server I watched as my 200+ unread emails on my blackberry went down to none to match my outlook.
