Default mute button doesn't mute incoming calls' tone?

Please Login to Remove!

to my horror i discovered the mute button doesn't mute calls (in a cinema).

when i hit mute i get "entering standby mode..."

i assumed this was the way to put my phone quickly onto quiet mode fr meetings, etc.?

Here is what I do.

I disable dial from homescreen. Call Log > Options > General Options > Dial from Homescreen = Off

Then I press F (Profiles), Q (Quiet), Space. This takes about 1 second and puts the phone in quiet mode.

That is not a mute button, it puts the phone in "standby" (powersave mode).

Push and hold down the "#" button to go in to vibrate mode, then when done with meeting or movie, do it again to return to your ringer mode.

Pressing standby (not holding it down) or pressing any other key should stop/silence the ring, but as the others have mentioned, it does not change your profile.

well on the 8700 the stand by button is actually a mute button - I wish it would be the same for 8820
