Default 8520 - Curve, Incoming Calls/Alarm does not ring

Hi,

I have a new BB 8520 Curve model. Its just a month old and everything was fine till recently. Not sure what settings i changed, now incoming calls, alarm does not ring - only display shows the event but the sound is missing. I checked settings like profile (normal) etc., nothing wrong with setting ie it is not set to silent/mute. WHat could be the issue ? i have tried all settings options ! any help will be welcome

Hi Satish,

I had a similar problem on my 6 month old 9700 bold and went nuts trying to figure it out so I can emphatize with you.

Please double check all your settings - just to ensure something is not amiss there.

In my cel the speaker unit was faulty. I was put off by the centre as they said it would take at least 15-20 days to repair.

I went to this BB repair guy, he opened up the phone and replaced a small device at the top of the phone (behind where BlackBerry is written).
This speaker unit cost me INR 1400.
It was done in 20-25 minutes in front of me so i can vouch the part was changed.

It could be faulty hardware as it was for Kurush. Try a battery pull. If you've already done it, do it again, with the power on, and wait a full minute or two before replacing the battery. If that doesn't fix it, doublecheck profile settings as Kurush suggested, and also try different tones. And try tones that are stored in main memory as well as tones on the card (if you are using one). If after that you haven't solved it, then I would suspect hardware.
