Default Is the sound quality on the new blackberries better then the Pearl?

I've had the pearl since they first came out and call quality has always been terrible. Sometimes people's words just become garbled nothing - can't understand a thing. I like my pearl but would trade it off in a second for a newer blackberry just for the sound quality issue.

The sound quality has been fine on mine and I've had it since release day last September.

Call quality has like wise been good, in fact better than the SamSung t609 I had. Maybe a coverage issue with T-mo in your area of florida, or faulty device?

Like others have said, mine has always had excellent sound quality. In fact, most people cannot tell I am on the Pearl, they think I am on a land line.

Seems the issue is with your phone or geographic region, not the Pearl model.

Other than a coverage issue, could be something is blocking your microphone or your mic is defective.

Do you have a case on the Pearl, is it blocking the mic? Is there some obstruction in the mic area, that teeny little hole at the bottom of the Pearl?

If that's not it, you are still within the one year warranty period of the phone since the earliest you could have bought it from T-Mo was Sept. 12, 2006.

Make a warranty claim, unless you are getting a bad signal in your area. If it's a bad signal, then any new phone most likely won't fix the issue.

This difference in sound quality from the 71xx series to the Pearl is astonishing. I had to use a 7105 one day because my Pearl broke. I couldn't hear a thing.

That being said, I am not sure why you think the Pearl sound quality is so terrible.

Wirelessly posted (7105t: BlackBerry8100/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Not to beat a dead horse but like everylbu else I'm on my second pearl now, and both have had good call quality. Certainly they are better than my 7100 was!

I was actually in Tampa yesterday and my signal was great there. At least in the downtown area; both inside and out of buildings. (Twiggs Street area to be precise) So, it may be the phone...

My call quality (on both ends) has been great. Even in low signal areas.

I would call TMo and see if they can send a another Pearl. Most likely it is your phone.
