Cingular was very compliant in providing the unlock code.
However the menu on the 8700 doesn't match what they say in the instructions. An hour on the phone with various people at Cingular (inc. the Bberry data experts) yielded no resolution.
Cingular final position: "I guess you need to call Blackberry."
I've got V 4.1.0.194, when I go to Options, I have to select Advanced Options to find SIM Card.
Pressing SIM Card, I get "SIM Card: Security disabled" and
ID: a 21 digit number here
Pressing the 21 digit number, I get:
Edit SIM phone number
Change PIN2 Code
Enable Security
Close
Any ideas on where the fabled "Unlock Code" gets entered?
Is this menu set the same as others have encountered?
All of the instructions I have seen say Type MEPD.
The instructions that I received from Cingular say MPED.
I'd bet on Cingular being right but ...
I'm using a non-active Cing sim but have also tried an active Cing sim and an active T-Mo sim.
Thanks in advance for your help.
