Have to leave my 8700c any ideas

My compnay was just purchased and the new parent company requires that you use their BB's no exceptions...so I get a choice of a new state of the art 7100 or 7290..Yee Haw. Looks like I have to put my 8700g in the drawer. I was thinking for a personal phone that i will probably set up to have the phone portion of the co. BB auto forward to something like the T-mobile SDA. Its nice and compact, quad, wifi, and can sync. w/ PIM. I know its MS and alot of people aren't keen on that. Any other ideas?

Why not just use the 8700 as the personal device? Or do you really want the SDA? I tried the SDA for a week and returned under T-Mo's 14 day policy a while back.

I did not like it one bit and at that point decided to wait for the 8700 to come out.

Nothing wrong with the 7290, its an awesome device, not on par with the 8700 screen wise and speed wise but it is rock solid and is built like a tank!

While I loved the 8700c...let's face it, its a little bulky. Since my BB is going thru a company device i thought I could slim down on my personal device. The SDA looked about the right size and had some nice sounding features. I just think the 8700 is to bulky to keep as a phone a only..u lose half the reason to have it w/o push email. soemthing slimmer is nice to stick in the pocket when I run to the store so the wife can call and say she need instant rice as well.

What did you not like about the SDA?? Keep in mind I'm not looking to use this to push email but just access and pHone. Phone quality poor?? sytem lockup a lot?

They could be from different carriers, and the 8700 is locked.

The BES admin WILL notice the different device. You just don't want to get on the new employer's bad side right away.

I'd NEVER put my personal BB on a company BES. They'll likely push an IT policy on it.

I did think about just putting in the sim card...but since I put up a fight about it...they'll probably expect it and be looking for that. And as the man said "get on their bad side".

I actually like the MS Windows Mobile OS but the problem is going to be that you've been spoiled by the BB. I had the Spint PPC6700 (equiv to the MDA) and the SDA and gave up on both because even though the features were cool as heck the power management was horrific. One night I left my office at 5 to go to a wedding and the standard battery of the PPC6700 was dead by 9:30 while the SDA died on the way home at about midnight. I gave up all the features for a BB8700 and couldn't be happier. Sure I'd like to read HTML emails, edit attached word & excel files and play the occassional clip from my fave Paris Hilton video but none of that's possible (nor will you get phone calls) if you have a dead battery

If you want a phone only device the RAZR is the way to go... nicest cell phone I've seen.

I would just use the 7290 and get on with life. Use the 8700 as your personal phone, if you want. It's not worth agonizing over.
