I am getting ready to purchase a 7290 from T-Mobile with unlimited data package so that I can get POP3 emails for my internet business. I don't need access to an Exchange server. The info on the T-Mobile website says the 7290 is for corporate email, which I assume means Exchange, which means BES, right? How do I get BIS? Just download it and set it up for my needs? Thanks for the help.

It is available for BIS also. When you sign up for the unlimited data, you have access to the BIS. BIS allows you to send, receive, reply to and forward email from up to 10 email addresses on your BB.

Do I specifically have to order the 7290 for BIS? The one available from the T-Mobile site says specifically "corporate email". Does that mean I can't use it for POP3? Sorry to be so dense. I just want to make sure I'm getting the right thing here. Thanks.

All T-Mobile BBs will work with POP3 e-mail.

All BB's work with either BIS or BES.

Actually I believe there are some BBs being sold in the UK and Europe as "prosumer" models (I hate that phrase) and are BIS only and will not work on a BES. Restricted by the carrier.
