Default No sound from headphones

My daughter has an 8900 and she isn't getting any sound from her skull candy headphones, when we plug in the stock headphones that were included in the box it works normally. Is there a reason standard headphones don't work in the 8900? She would really like to use the skull candies as they are more comfortable and sound better.

Have the skull candy ones ever worked on the device? Does any sound come at full volume?

The 8900 has a 4 pin jack, her headphones may be the standard 3 pin.

All blackberrys have the 4 pin jack for handsfree. I use my iPod headphones with my BlackBerry which are 3 pin and they work fine.

We just got her the phone, so this was the first time trying the headset in it. I'll have to do some more research between the 4 pin jack and possible 3 pin standard headphones. Thanks for the quick reply.

Does the phone work with another pair of headphones? Try a pair of 3 pin ones, they'll have two black plastic insulating lines on the plug.

I'll give it a try when I get home from work, I have several pairs of headphones at the house.

any 3 pin headphones should work in the phone.

try several pairs to make sure that it isint the connector or the like that is broken.

I tried some different headphones when I got home from work and they all worked normally, I then tried the skull candy headphones again and low and behold they work as well. I'll have to call it dirty contacts or something (gremlins maybe). Thanks for all the responses.
