Default Bb 8320 Curve Problem

Hello everyone. I just got the BB 8320 Curve and it keeps going off after like 10 seconds of putting it on. I switched SIM CARDS and it shows "VERIFYING SECURITY SOFTWARE........SECURITY SOFTWARE PASSED" and goes off after this. Wouldn't even allow me to go to options or edit anything before going off. Can anyone please tell me what to do cos i love this phone so much even without using it at all.

Welcome to BBF.

If you 'just' got it I'd say return it. Something is wrong with it.

If you can't return it, I'd say try wiping it with JL_Cmder and see if you can reload the OS.

I've been running the .46 version now for a week without any significant issues. I don't use UMA or WiFi though, I can't comment on that. The only bug I've come across is the voice-mail indicator doesn't seem to work quite right. I'm on T-Mo.

If your voicemail indicator doesn't work, try YouMail - Cell Phone Voice Mail with Personalized Greetings and Online Retrieval. Great service....much better than TMo.

Loaded this on my 8320 and my wifes as well. so far so good. no aparent major issues.

did note yesterday that on my phone i get an option to download attachement from email and my wife does not.

on my phone however i'm on bes and have upgraded the servers to 4.1.5 and dont get to see corporate email in html format.

any ideas on any of these appreciated.

AFAIK, you need 4.1.6 on your BES for HTML email. Not sure about your other issues though.

Nobody knows. It's fixed in later versions, though.

Frying is probably a bad description. My guess is the SIM card gets locked (there are 3 different methods for this). You can also lose service if the MSISDN is set incorrectly. I've been running .37 for three days with no incident (except for UMA not working). I now have an updated firmware loaded and UMA works (although it doesn't seem to like the Tmo MyFaves app).

I doubt these cards are overheating or shorting out. If that is the case, then loading beta software is probably the least of your worries ;)

i upgraded to T-Mobile BlackBerry 8320's to from v4.2.2.184 to 4.5.0.37-- both devices would reboot as soon as the device went idle (backlight shut off) if a microSD card was inserted. if the card was formatted using the Media Card menu of the phone it should stop, until content was re-added to the card. the issue was resolved by formatting the card from a PC first (right-click on the removeable drive in My Computer and select format) and once content was added back to the card the Curve stopped rebooting when idle.

I am just wondering if the problem everyone is having with SIM's going bad is based on the Tmo hardware, or the fact that its on the TMo network. Reason I ask is I have a Tmo 8320 which is unlocked, and I am using it on Rogers in Canada. I wanted to upgrade to 4.5 but am wondering if the same issues will apply?
