I am bringing my Curve 8310 to Jamaica next week and it is running OS 4.5.0.37. The phone has been unlocked though I have never used it on any network besides at&t. I plan to buy a local Sim Card to make phone calls since I heard this is by far the cheapest option.

Do you think I should downgrade to an older OS (or get a newer beta) before going to Jamaica?

No, it doesn't matter what OS you are using. It will work fine,.

Since people all over the world are using these OS's, I do not see why you would have any issues. After all the carrier relased software doesn't amount to any different, its just what they have tested.
