First thing is to try a battery pull (while the device is powered on). Leave it out for about 10 seconds then reinsert, then send yourself a test message.

My active profile set to Normal, but I have edited Normal profile as when I receive any email should alert with Tone while out of hostler and vibrate when in hostler.

What is the volume set to for the Tone? If it is set properly try setting it to a different sound (and verify the the sound goes off when you change it) and then set it back.

(Reposting because previous post attempt crashed due to a PHP error - hopefully this is not a duplicate post)

Hi -- I had the same problem -- turned out the 'out of holster' at the top of the Messages[Desktop] in the related profile was set to 'none' -- needs to be set to 'tone'

I'm good with computers and software but missed this step.

You might have missed something similarly small.

Check this link out -- following it closely is how I solved my problem with 'no tone for getting email messages'

Hi Crawl, Re-check your Profile settings. Have you recently installed any new apps on you BB? Try deleting that app first, but if all else fails, you may ultimately need to re-install the BB OS.

I would recommend editing and confirming your settings in Profiles, for both IN and OUT of holster... make sure it is set to vibrate.

Then, if still not, remove the battery while powered ON, replace and reboot.

I also realized i couldnt send out emails as well as the tone not coming through. Turns out my activation from our enterprise server was down, and i reactivated it, and BOOM, everything works.
