Default Store wallpaper image on SD Card or Device memory?

Please Login to Remove!

Does it make any difference where I store the image file that I use for my wallpaper?

I've had it on my SD Card for a while and wondered if it would be beneficial to move it to the Device memory since it wouldn't have to read from external media to display it.

Wirelessly posted (Blackberry Curve 4.6.0.62)

I store all images on card. I don't want to use the device memory for anything but messages and apps.

All my wallpapers are on my card. The more device memory, the better.

Count me amongst the memory card users as well. All my media (pics, music, videos) is on my 4GB card, and I haven't come close to filling it yet. Worth the investment.

I thought that any image that you use as wallpaper is loaded into device memory no matter where it resides when unused. If that is the case, then, it really doesn't matter where the "current" wallpaper image is stored. Maybe I'm wrong. Can anyone confirm?

I thought this might be the case, but it would be great if someone could confirm this.

Does anyone know of an app to install apps on the card?

You can store installation alx/cod on card, but you cannot actually install or run programs off card.

It seems like when I had the wallpapers on the card, it kept reverting to the default wallpaper for the theme. I can't remember what caused it now... either battery pull, synch, or backup. Has anyone else seen this?

Yep...what did it to me was the fact that I had the card set to Mass media storage mode under the options, so that every time I plug it into the computer, since the PC is using the card, the phone can not. You can solve this one of two ways...disable the mass media storage mode, in which case, you can't drag and drop stuff into the card like it's just a disk drive, or you can move the one wallpaper or whatever over onto the device memory. I chose to move the one wallpaper I use onto the device memory (at least until I create the theme I'm working on). The same also goes for ringtones, but it seems to set back to normal after unplugging it, IIRC, but I could be wrong there and it could stay changed back to default.

That's what I do. I just move the current wallpaper I'm using over to device memory. I only keep one pic at at a time on the device memory, though. I store the rest of the pics on the card. That way I don't get any weird issues due to the media card/mass storage issues.

Exactly...tried to make it simple, but I tend to over-explain things sometimes.

I ended up putting a few wallpapers back in device memory so I wouldn't have that issue also.

The only time my phone sets things back to default(if the media meant to be used is on my card) is when it's plugged in to my pc. Once unplugged, everything goes back to normal.

I just leave all my stuff on my media card, no sense in moving things around if it only happens when plugged in to pc...which I do only when I'm installing themes or updating the OS.

There used to be an issue with ringtones on the card creating a delay when answering the phone. I think that bug was fixed but what if your phone rings when plugged into the computer. I just avoid that by moving the one or two files to the device memory. I have plenty of memory from "Optimizing!"
