Sorry, all - nothing worse than humiliating yourself in front of others, but here goes:

I downloaded 4.5.0.77 for my verizon 8830. Installed it on my desktop, rebooted (as I was instructed to do), and connected my BB to the desktop. I then opened Desktop Manager, but it doesn't find the OS to upgrade. I've tried everything I know (admittedly, not a lot).

What am I doing wrong??

Thanks.

Nothing wrong with your question at all! You downloaded the OS to your PC but did you INSTALL it on your PC? Did you delete the vendor.xml file?

I DID install it on my PC. The only place I can see it was installed was into the C:\Program files\common files\RIM\shared\loader files.

Interestingly, there's no vendor.xml file in there...maybe I got a bum download?

Good Luck and report back. Also, did you delete any previous versions of the OS installed on your PC?

Do you get that message after hitting the Application Loader in the Desktop Manager?

Thanks! I was looking in the wrong spot for the vendor.xml file. I suppose a little reading first would have done the trick!

Thanks again - I appreciate it!

It's the best thing EVER! Faster BB, better graphics. Haven't tried youtube yet. LOVE D2G, as well as the voice note recorder.

WHY haven't they released this yet????!!!

Good stuff huh?!? Still some quirks that you may encounter though. I think it's almost there for most devices. What's funny is how quickly you will forget all of the new goodies and take them for granted!

I have an 8830 and installed this weekend. It is THE BEST!!! I agree. I think it made me fall in love with my BB8830 all over again.

The only quirk I found was that there were no ringtones after the install. But I got that fixed up and now it's working great!

Have all my ringtones that I downloaded before, so no problems there. Still trying to figure out how to get HTML e-mail though. I'm only using the Internet Browser. Should I upgrade to something else?

There is an article here on getting the HTML email to work. I believe it was written by John Clark a mod here. However, I did a search and can't find it. I checked the FAQ also and don't see it. Hopefully someone will chime in for me and help you out.
