I copied that file into the 4.5 OS file, replaced qualcomm.cod with 8830.cod, ran DM again.....nothing. It didn't show up when I went to use App Loader in DM.
I'm curious, could someone who has the correct rim_bb_medialoader_8830.cod file.....could they email that to me so I can use DM to get it onto my phone? I don't know enough about Java Loader to feel comfortable using it.

I just copied that file to the proper folder, and then edited the Blackberry.alx file to reference it. I copied the reference from the 2.4 Blackberry.alx file. Then next time I opened the desktop manager, it figured out there was an "update".

I think I'm following you, but are we in agreement that the rim_bb_medialoader_qualcomm file, from my 4.2.2.196 OS, is the right one? I was of the understanding that I just needed to copy that into the 4.5 file, then replace qualcomm with 8830. So I need to do the text changes in notepad, per JSanders recommendation? I apologize if this is frustrating to anyone. I may just have to go back to 4.2.2.196.

Oh happy day!
Happy happy me....
After all of your help, and a simple battery pull, I was able to get my ringtones and (more importantly) my vibrate back...
Thanks to you all for your putting up with my ignorance. I actually might have learned something, too!!

Whattya know? I learn something new every day. I just assumed the file wasn't in any pre-4.5 installations because so many people seem to be asking for the Qualcomm file that hadn't tried 4.5 yet (I'm on my 3rd rendition and I was a late adopter).
Now I know.

If you already have the re-named .cod file in your Java folder, just connect your blackberry and run DM. Open up the application loader and select finish to add the .cod file from your java folder
Edit:
I guess I was typing too slow.... Glad you got it working.

I would go back and read post #50 in this thread. That should do the trick.

No, it was called
net_rim_bb_media_tunebundles_qualcomm.cod
and that was in my 4.2 Java folder. I simply copied that the the 4.5 Java folder, and didn't rename a thing. Opened the Blackberry.Alx file from the 4.2 install, found the reference to that file (and it was under another model Blackberry, but I used it anyway), copied the whole reference including the fileset stuff:
<fileset Sound="Tunes7130c" Java="1.0">
<files>
net_rim_bb_media_tunebundles_qualcomm.cod
</files>
</fileset>
and copied this into the corresponding location in the 4.5 Blackberry.alx file. That was it!
Now I will say that this may be causing a memory leak? My memory drops on a daily basis, and I think it may do so even if I am not using any apps. Maybe this is the cause. Annoyance yes, but hopefully the release version will come out soon!

Just an update:
Between last night and today, I've upgraded from 4.2.2.196 to 4.5.0.77. I've finally gotten the old ringers/vibration back, and as of right now, I'm really happy with the 4.5 OS. The browser is much improved from the OS that I was running. I really like the ability to scoll with the trackball (as usual), but can also use the TB as a pointer/cursor, which makes clicking a link wuch easier....much. There are several other things that I like about this OS....no real cons....yet.
I actually have more free space with this OS, as opposed to the older OS. I know many have said that the 8830 should have 60+KB of total space, but mine has always had around 45KB, with 15-20KB of free space. I've gotten rid of everything that I can (never really added much), but the best I can do is 15-20KB, and just do a batt pull daily. I've always seen the free space drop from 15-20KB, down to well below 10, so I'm interested to see how this fares in that department.
Thanks to everyone who helped me.

I see the HTML email is working in this release as opposed to the .51 I had before, but I can't seem to receive images (I just see the outline of the images and the image tag). Anyone had success in receiving the images? I checked my settings and saw that automatically receive images was checked and I manually tried the option to download images as well.

Doing the "Get Images" should do it. Occasionally, the images don't come through, though.

4.5.0.77 loaded successfully, connection to BES not interrupted.
however I need some tips on getting ringers/vibrate back. pulled battery, power cycled, and they don't seem to come around. I must be doing something in the wrong order to trigger getting them back.

BES connection is ALWAYS interrupted. You have to reativate on the BES. You can do that automatically if connected to your email system or you can get a password from your IT department.

Nah, I had a VPN connection to the BES and exchange server available, so it actually didn't seem to be interrupted at all. Used desktop 4.6, pinged the BES and exchange before doing it by name and IP, seemed A-OK during and after. Immediately had all messages and basically picked up right where I left off.
but yeah... the RINGERS and VIBRATE... now that's the problem. any help would be appreciated.

Ok, but it did go through an Enterprise Activation after the upgrade. It did that because you were connected.
