Default Receiving Picture Messages on the 8130?

Please Login to Remove!

My friends have sent me 3 picture messages and I have received none. How do I receive picture messages?

What is a MMS? If they sent it to a "MMS" would it not be the same as my phone number?

Thanks!

(I have Verizon if that makes a difference o.o)

If your friends aren't on verizon, it can take quite a while to receive them. You have to have a data plan on your account, but because you have verizon, I know that's not the issue.

Certain companies are incompatible with others when it comes to mms. I can receive MMS from everyone, but when I retrieve it, half the time it comes up blank. If it happens too many times in a row, I just tell them to send it to my email, and I always get it that way. Have you tried taking the battery out while the phone is on? Sometimes that helps, it's the general fix for everything!

MMS = Multimedia Messaging. Basically it's just a text to send pictures/sounds/video.
It's not a different number or anything though.

Oh thanks. Well they sent it two days ago. Should I have received it by now? And when you mean send to my email, can it be sent to my blackberry email?

I had experiences where I sent someone a picture (while I was on verizon) and 12hrs later they got it... it's bad, and I don't understand it...
It may be a good idea to call verizon with this problem, and see if they know any way of solving it.. 2 days ago is definitely too long!

Yupp, instead of your phone number if they put your blackberry email, it should send just fine, and you should get it within a few minutes!

They just send it to your cell phone number?!

Did you call Verizon and ask for anything?

And where does it show up?

What U.S. Cellular told me when mine didn't work was that you had to send a picture message to yourself. And after a day or two it would work. But you might ask them.

What's funny, I did that with my phone also (tmobile)
And my pic I sent myself retrieved as a blank message.
No go for me there!

It seems MMS on smartphones with any carrier are a crap shoot.. My dad had a MotoQ with verizon, could rarely receive picture messages, but I never had a problem with my razr. He doesn't have a problem with getting MMS on his curve, but I can rarely get them to come through :P

I seem to get other pictures MMS when they send me pictures, but when I send it to them, they don't seem to get mine MMS, can anyone tell me that part? Plus does it make a difference if my friends are not or don't have a blackberry Pearl?

It shouldn't matter if your friends have a pearl or not...
But the more it happens the more it seems like thats a possible reason

I don't really know why they wouldn't receive yours though, unless they 1 - need a data plan to get mms and don't have one or 2 - other carriers causing problems..

I've never had these sort of problems before this phone... It almost makes me wonder if it's not a blackberry thing, with how wide spread it is throughout different carriers and states and everything...

*edit*
I just sent myself another mms, to see if that idea would work again.. It actually retrieved it this time, automatically even! So I guess I'll have to wait and see if it works

Someone has tried to send a picture to my phone and I have yet to receive it. My carrier is AT&T. Any suggestions or reasons why I can't receive it. Thanks.
