Default Distinguishing Pre-Production Units?

Please Login to Remove!

So I had a bold for about 2 days that was unbranded. It was retailed boxed .. worked flawlessly. There was no issue registering the IMEI/PIN etc. I'm wondering which units were pre-production as I've heard the only retail ones were the Rogers branded versions? Or maybe I'm mistaken and there actually are a few legit unbranded retail versions out there?

I think most of them would have the RIM Sticker on them, or a spot where is was located on the back of the BB, that would be one way.

There are two ways to also tell. One is usually the pre-production units have a disclosure when you start the device saying the device is not for lease or sale.
The other way is to press ALT CAPS H. That will bring up the Help Me screen. What number is your vendor id?
