I have a new CURVE 8310 and the OS is 4.2....trying to upgrade to 4.5.81. Here is what I did thus far. I ran BB user tools CD that came with unit and downloaded 4.5.0.81 from web(option you can use with 4.5 DM). when download finished and Installer came up but I always get a pop-up screen
"BB desktop manager is still running and must shut down to continue"
-It gives you two options OK or Cancel- I click OK and nothing happens. I've made sure DM is closed... where do I find the vendor file to delete??

First of all, reboot your PC to start over and do not start Desktop Manager.

Then make sure that the Handheld OS that you downloaded has successfully been installed to your PC.

Vendor.XML is normally found in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader

to john-- I went to MY Documents and deleted the vendor xml and then opened DM and connected 8310 to PC and there was no 4.5 listed in apps to download. I rebooted my pc before I started the whole process.. I am lost, where do I go from this point

Follow the steps EXACTLY. Word for word. In order.
Then restart Desktop Manager.
