Default How to best separate BES and personal emails?

Please Login to Remove!

Is "Empower BES MailBox" the best solution for this? Hopefully not because I have the 4.5 OS and I understand it's not compatible.

Empower is the only software solution. If your company is using BES version 4.1.5 + then there is a way to create a seperate folder. However, I have 4.5 and I'm using Empower just fine.

Is there a way for me to determine which BES version is being used without asking them?

I don't believe so.

Since BB and BIS creates a separate icon/inbox for each account you set up, wouldn't that be sufficient?

Alternatively, I like all my mail in the same inbox, but have my work account set up with a filter to be "Level 1" messages, which means they show up in the shared inbox in red, with all the others in black.

Yes, however; the OP is talking about BES, not BIS. Therefore it does not have it's own inbox.

Funny thing is just after recently posting a reply about needing a 3rd party app I now have a separate icon on my 8310 for my BES email. Seems to have coincided with MailStreet updating the BES server I'm on.

There is an option your BES administrator can enable which adds a seperate "Desktop" icon for mailboxes. I have that installed on my BES and it works fine.

Turn on or turn off the Enterprise-Only Message Application icon in BlackBerry Enterprise Server software version 4.1.5

I did mention that in the post above.

Do you notice now with Empower that there is a lag in opening the BES Mailbox? I notice now that when I click on BES Mailbox it first shows whatever messaging screen I was on last (SMS, one of my personal email boxes) then switches or filters down to BES only. I never saw this before upgrading my OS to 4.5. I wonder if you are seeing the same thing.

Yes, but I've gotten use to it. It was annoying at first, but I feel that it's still worth having the messages separated.

Agreed. I have emailed their support about it, but all they can say at this point is that I don't have the latest version (which I do that I am aware of). But in any event, I do agree that it is still worth it.

I enabled this option and personally I like having the ability to see BES only e-mails and everyone else I've asked said they like it also and for the ones that don't at least they can hide the icon.

My BES MailBox icon is not showing the unread message count even though I have the option set to do so. Any ideas? OS 4.5.

Pull the battery. It does that right after you install Empower. It just needs to be rebooted.

I thought the same thing and pulled the battery for 15 seconds last night. It did not resolve the issue.

Has the email been opened in Outlook? Once you open it on either the BB, or the PC, the other will update as being read.

Well, I'll have to do some additional testing tonight, but the emails appeared on the BB as being unread, and if my wife would have read them at work in Outlook, shouldn't they have updated on the BB as being read?
