Default 8830 won't play video or music

Please Login to Remove!

Recently my blackberry stopped being able to play .wma files.

I have a 2 gig micro SD card that I previously loaded with .wma files and they played just fine.

Then I ended up loading up the whole SD card with photos when we were on vacation and I deleted the music and video files to make room.

Now after I reloaded the music and videos...the media player launches but the music or videos never plays...it just seems to hang there.

I reformated the SD card and that didn't help...

Any ideas?

Thanks

Wirelessly posted (Verizon 8830)

For the heck of it load a video from from videos4blackberry.info which are automatically formatted properly. Let's see what happens. A formatting component may be corrupted.

Perhaps it's time to wipe your BlackBerry?

Okay...here's what I found out.

While looking thru the options menu I came upon the media card option.

I clicked it and for some reason just to try something since I knew that when the device is connected you cannot access the media card...and it seemed to act like I couldn't access the media card...So I turned OFF "Mass Storage Mode Support"...it was ON previosly and had the "Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode When Connected" set to PROMPT. However when I turned off the Mode Support the PROMPT goes away.

Simply toggling that mode seemed to have cleared my issue. My media player now once again plays music and videos...

I suspect that somehow when I plugged in my Blackberry it may have inadvertently gotten stuck in a weird mode and not allowed access to the micro SD card. Don't know...but now it seems to work.

Only thing that isn't quite right is I don't get all my thumbnails on my pictures that are on the media card...I get them on the device memory but not the media card...so something isn't 100% just yet...but I'm just happy I can play my tunes again!

Joe.

Try a battery pull with the device powered on. That should get back your pictures.

No luck.

It seems that smaller pictures show the thumbnail (under 100K) but large images (i.e. my 3meg versions) don't show the thumbnail. If I email myself a photo and 'save' it to my device the thumbnail shows up...but if I acess the media card thru the USB port and drop pictures there...there is no thumbnail.

Any more ideas?

I seemed to have stumbled upon one fix for the media player myself...still looking for suggestions on the thumbnails.

Thanks for the ideas.

Joe.
