using that search button is A MUST....

anyway i just got this phone n i swore nextel made a mistake by sending it to me ("my screen crack on 7520, nextel ship me the new blackberry 7100i, i request i needed a new bb so i can see the mess up")...so i did the "SEARCH" read the pro & cons,

its not a bad phone, IMO i like the old 1 better, so im gonna go out n show off n see if this phone lives up 2 all the hype

I tried to download jbenchmark3d - however the download kept failing.

downloaded and ran jbenchmark2 - the following are my findings

image manipulation - 13
text - 81
sprites - 9
3d transform - 8
user interface - 26

I then ran the test again with antialiasing turned on, and got the following results

image manipulation - 22
text - 75
sprites - 9
3d transform - 10
user inerface - 25

I don't know how this stacks up to other phones - so hopefully someone can comment on that.

You can assign the ringtones to each contact right from the address book. Just go to edit a contact....click the scrollwheel and select "add custom phone tune"...

unless your talking about something different

Hi -

I am new to the BB world. What is the advantage of the BES vs just getting copies of my internet mail pushed to the phone? Are there providers for Enterprise? Our company does not host its own email.

Thanks - ACM

Default 7100i

Been absent for a while didnt realize this rig was available, I just spent 15 mins ordering one from nextel, (I wont go to the local stores anymore they are a complete excersize in frustration) It appears the new units are on backorder. No mention of this on the site. Had I known I might have called around to find one. I guess I will have to wait. I hope I will like suretype. Any size decrease is a step forward. Any insiders care to throw out an ETA?

Default Finding the 7100i

Try just calling around. I was about to buy the 7520 this week which was back-ordered in about 5 area stores in my area. The 7100i arrived this week and the NRS had it when I went to check out the 7520. However I don't know how strong the inventory is. Also, I called Nextel sales and they are shipping. I am impressed with the product (keep in mind that I don't have 7520 experience to compare).

You can assign your middle key (between SEND and END buttons) to do this, that's what I did. I just pick up the phone and hit this button, goes straight to my messages screen. Go to OPTIONS --> SCREEN/KEYBOARD and select "Messages" under "Convenience Key Opens:"

Good luck,

Have all of you had to call for the SIM swap? I know NXTL is a bit squirrely on their sims, but it seems like you should just be able to put your current sim in the new phone...

I'm thinking of getting the 7100i for me and giving my 7520 to my wife...i just don't want to pay the activation twice.

The sim of the 7100i (64k) is different than that of the 7520 (32k), and if you want to use the texting feature of the 7100i you'll certainly have to use the 64k sim that comes with it.... There's no charge for a sim swap (what you'll need to do for your wife to get her service onto the 7520 sim) and you certainly won't be charged a second activation fee for that, as you're not activating a new unit....

Default 7100i vs Treo 650

For reference....attached is a side by side comparison of the two, the 7100i is slightly taller....perhaps a little narrower and liter in weight.

What am I doing wrong with this 7100i battery?

Got the BB Friday night, moved from an i85s with extended battery, could talk all day and not kill it. Today, I had to charge the 7100 2x to get through an 10 hour day. Talk was not as heavy or as long as I have put the 7100 through. I realize it does a lot more and the screen is bigger/brighter etc, but for a business user this BB needs to go a solid day without being charged. When I am away all day, e.g. conference, this will not work and is not practical!!

Any else experiencing this? The screen is great but I think it is a design mistake to make a screen that requires the backlight, i.e. it cannot be seen in good lighting w/o the backlight which sucks down the power.
