no. There is no way to set it up to use data.

On the RIM IM apps yes they will charge it to data. I downloaded the yahoo IM from the Verizon apps store and it doesn't charge SMS it uses the data.

Ok, so I should delete the Verizon IM applications and Download the AIM application from mobile.blackberry.com. This will charge my data not Txt Message [SMS]?

Did you download them from the app store? I think all the IM apps in the store are RIM specific. I don't use AIM.

You can get it from the app store or Blackberry.com they are both the same.

Also you can log onto your Verizon acct and check your text message usage and it clearly shows there that IM's don't use SMS's.
