I just finished a phone conversation with a Sprint technical support person asking when the Sprint's version of 4.5 is to be released. This is what was said to me... "Sprint is releasing 4.5 software in the future for newer Blackberry Phones." Astonished at this comment I asked directly... Are you saying Sprint is NOT releasing a OS 4.5 version for owners of the BB 8830 WE? His reponse to me was... "There are no plans to release 4.5 for the 8830 and earlier version of Blackberry phones from Sprint." I sat here at my desk momentarily stunned by this revelation. Once the information sunk in I thanked the tech guy for entertaining my questions and hung up. All I can say is Yikes! Unless, he is horribly mistaken (and he did not sound like someone who was incompetent) or that's it. No 4.5 for Sprint 8830 WE users. I hope he is absolutely wrong and we are pleasantly surprised but I am not counting on it. I do regret having to be the one to share this. Suddenly, the Storm and Bold are looking better to me.

There is an official 8830 release. It just isn't Sprint's and it works quite exceptionally on the SprintWE.

I appreciate knowing that. I just feel better when I use my carriers software. I'm not saying I won't consider trying the other version you referenced. I'm just sayin.

My understanding that the official release is 4.2. However, you lurk around at some of the BB online publications, you will find the beta in my profile which is highly stable. If an official release did come out, I wouldn't change over.

Yea I haven't seen anything official for 8830 since 4.2.2, although there are plenty of Beta's out there, which work decently (you can the Beta forum for more details)
