Default AP Mobile News App now available for BB Storm

Please Login to Remove!

Been testing this for a week or so now and got the OK to post about it this morning.

The AP Mobile News app is now updated and available for the Storm!

This app will put all of the news from the Associated Press in the palm of your hand.

Hit http://ap.mwap.at from your Storm's browser (make sure it's in BB mode) and download v2.5.3 to your Storm OTA.

If you're having trouble with the OTA install or prefer to install via DM:

Installation alternatives for AP Mobile News

If it's still giving you trouble, please go to Contact | FreeRange, select 'AP Support' and send them an email.

I'm sure David Boyd will be keeping an eye on the thread, but the best way to get help is through the link above.

For the folks who don't have a Storm, go to APNews from your BB browser for a compatible version.

Hm... just installed it. Moved it to the "Home" folder, and now it's gone. I'm rebooting to see if it comes back.

EDIT: Nevermind. I found it in the Instant Messenger folder. This app runs incredibly fast.

Glad you found it. It's a great app and a great companion to the WSJ app that was released a couple of weeks ago.

Wow, again this is fantastic! ... This app is equal to the quality of apps that I experienced on another platform from cupertino.

I would agree with this. Most, if not all new apps for the STORM should be running with this type of ease and simplicity! Very clean.... nicely done!

I just realized that you can swipe the tabs bar and it scrolls nicely. I am surprised that his app is free. Suppose it is "Free" for now, I would expect to see some advertising or something soon. I would actually pay a subscription to keep this ad free. It's great!

I am guessing that this is the same software that the Mobile WSJ is using?

You can. You don't have to swipe either. You can slide your finger across the screen and it will scroll through the tabs without going end to end.

It was a feature I requested when I was beta testing the WSJ app and they implemented it in the AP app as well.

Not sure. David Boyd (CTO of FR) could answer that. Probably a similar tech foundation to be sure.

Do the apps look similar when opened? .. I haven't tried WSJ yet.

They're similar. Give WSJ a whirl. It's a great app too. http://wsju.mwap.at/

Seems like the WSJ app has issues with Profiles and backing them up, etc. So, that's something to be aware of.

hmmm...any time I've had a backup issue, a quick cache clear fixes it right up. Never had an issue with Storm version of WSJ hosing a backup.

Send FR an email about it and let them investigate.

really nice app! I kind of prefer the WSJ blackberry app because it packs more news headlines on the screen, though having a headline pic is nice too.
