Default Innocase vs. VZW Silicone/Hard Case - Thickness?

Please Login to Remove!

I currently have the silicone cover from VZW. I like it, except that it's kind of tacky so it sometimes gets "stuck" in my pockets. I have to futz with it to get the phone out.

I checked into the VZW hard case, but it's much thicker than the silicone case and I didn't like the added bulk.

I checked the VZW website to see that the thickness was on both the silicone and the snap on cases... and it didn't say anything.

I know that the Innocase is 1mm thick. I'm wondering how this compares to the silicone and/or hard-case from VZW in terms of thickness.

Anyone know?

Thanks!

I also have the VZW silicone case, and yes, it's a bit "sticky." I *assume* it to be about the same thickness as the Innocase (a simple measurement of the VZW case would confirm this.) I know that Innocase sells a silicone case and holster combo for the Storm, which I *assume* accomodates the case's added thickness -- if memory serves, their website specifically says it does. Only problem is, the combo runs $50 or so.

I use a holster for mine bought at Circuit City for $20, but I'm wondering if it will accomodate my ZAGG invisible shield...

Funny. I've got a VZW silicon and a pair of calipers within arms reach.

1.0mm confirmed.

I have read that Innocase slides easily in and out of the pocket. I may be getting it for this reason. I am also waiting to see if they will have a combo deal with the desktop cradle that they said they will be making to allow using the Innocase. I just hope it is soon.

Less about stickiness and more about thickness:

The Verizon case will *not* prevent damage (other than edge scratches). The most utility I've had from/with it is being able to yank the phone by the silicone and pull it out of a pocket/wife's handbag.

The Innocase will prevent damage from most drops of < 3 feet (table height).

The "penalty" is the increased thickness.

according to post above... both vzw silicone case and the innocase are the same thickness. each is 1mm thick.

I'm actually in the process of waiting for my Innocase to arrive. My 13 month old son ripped the Verizon silicone case right off the phone and in the process tore the actual case itself. It was a quick lesson that I'm going to need something stronger. I'll give an update once the Innocase arrives.

Not disagreeing, but this is hard to believe since the VZW one is very thin and "stretchy" whereas my experience with Innocases is that they're more rigid.

Wirelessly posted

Seidio cases are hard plastic and very thin. If dropped they tend to break/crack. Not tacky at all.

I had the silicone case and returned it for the hard case offered by Verizon. The silicone case is really tacky and lint or pet hair will stick like crazy on it. The hard case is really, really thick and I hate that bar that goes across the top of the phone. That bar presses against my ear whenever I am using the phone and in a long phone call, it makes my ear start to hurt.

The Innocase is the same thickness as the silicone case. It is not nearly as tacky as the silicone case, but it rubberized enough to give you a good grip. The other positive is that because it is a hard case, it fits tighter against the sides of the phone. The silicone case fits very loose on the sides.

Silicone is what they use for breast augmentations. That should tell you all you need to know about it wrt phone cases. If you want big boobs it's great. If you want a big phone it's even better. Very soft and grippy too!
