Time to call the Myth Busters!!
All kidding aside, I can see how this is possible. Well i guess you're just going to have to scrap the Saturn and get an Infiniti .......... keyless start!
I love my Infiniti (EX35); it's no Jag, but is a beautiful automobile.

Scarlett, I believe you.
I am about as far North in the U.S. as you can get without being in Alaska.
I don't have a Bold, but I've been trying for months to get my Curve to clean the cat box.
Did I overlook anything here?
I hate it when I join multi-topic threads late...

My '99 Camry (awesome vehicle) has remote start as well.
I was at a storage facility on 99 up in Everett, WA. Once and input the wrong code years ago and all of the doors on my Accord locked. I'm sure a phone can do the same thing. Used to be you could change channels on your new tv with a remote by droppingb a 16d nail on the fireplace hearth, or even with a belt buckle. I'm backing Scarlett. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

Well, I'm torn, which version of kellyjdrummer's story do I believe?
For the record, I used to live in NC, and travelled to the lower parts of Georgia, SC and Alabama, and would still raise an eyebrow when we claimed we were from the south.
Now I live in Ohio, and the folks here firmly believe they are from the midwest. You can't win.
... and I believe Scarlet did it with the Wrench, in the Conservatory!

I have no reason to fabricate any info, and see your "tongue-in-cheek" as a tad arrogant.
When I was a very young boy and lived with my aunt and uncle in Cosmopolis, WA. who could afford a remote controlled television, and when the remote was used, it sounded like someone pounding steel, I was responsible for starting the evening fire in the central fireplace, located on the opposite wall of the livingroom from where this new tv sat. I dropped a nail I had pulled from a piece of wood I had brought in from the shed in the backyard off the garage. Suddenly the television changed channels. We all laughed. I dropped the nail a few more times with the same result. Back then, the technology for these new tv's was all audio based. At my grandmother's house, my belt buckle did the same to her tv. No IR, no RF, all audio activated.
Concerning the U-Store in Everett, WA., the lady next to me in the Accord and myself laughed till we cried when all the doors locked.
Lastly, I am a transplant from Seattle (yeah the one in WA.) and have no idea about the point you may be trying to make about your geographic location or preferences, and have missed the humor you intended to relate to myself and the rest on this thread.
Your earlier response certainly exposes your disbelief of something that you have not experienced, but is certainly based in fact.
Bottom line is that it happened, I was there and was amazed when I saw it happen. Take it or leave it.
Yeah, J, this thread DID get hijacked. I believe you, Scarlett. I've seen happenings just as odd as yours.
(BTW, my SONY DVD remote works on my PS2, and my PS2 remote works on my SONY DVD player in my living room as well as my SONY DVD player in my bedroom.)
That is all.

I hate it when that happens. When I'm in the deep South, I always make sure I say "Southern Virginia" when they ask me where I'm from. Then I get respect.

If the keys were in the ignition then the doors shouldn't auto-lock. But yes if the keys were just sitting in the car then it's possible that the auto-lock kicked in and locked the car up.

I think the "tongue in cheek" comment referred to the fact that you had two identical posts. Hence, wasn't sure which to believe.
I found it funny.
And I came from the Midwest, Iowa. So I thought Ohio was a bit "southern" when I first came here.
(Granted, I have not made it to much of the Southeast that many would consider the real south.)
As to the origional topic. I do believe it possibe, though it shouldn't happen on a correctly working system.
