Default Pushing Old Mails

Please Login to Remove!

Right....

I'm 99.99% posative it's impossible, but is there any way at all to push old emails to a BlackBerry?

I know that you can pre-populate up to 30 days/750 messages, and I know you can have the user forward the mails to them selves, but I was just wondering if there was any other way to do it??

Nope.

If you have a high enough release of BES and BB handheld software, they can remotely search mailfile. Apart from that, no.

I've noticed it on my 4.5 handhelds (upgraded an 8800 the other day, and it appeared).
BES 4.1.6MR2

I was about to list exactly how to do it, but it appears I have left my BB in the car (oops)

Basically, you go into messages on BB
Call up menu
Select "Search"
At the top of the screen, is an option saying "local" i.e. searches BB
You can change that option to "remote" to search server mailfile

I'll verify that when I am back from lunch (will get Bold out of car. Hoping it is in car, else I've lost it.)

I never knew that. FWIW it seems to work on 4.5 but not 4.2, not sure about what's in between.

damn it!
I'm running BES Pro at home, so it doesn't look like I have that function.

And at work, the 8820's are only certified to have 4.1 o/s on them :( so atleast I can tell the users to complain to the higher bods as we can do it....but just not on yours!!

At least we start rolling out the 8900's from next month! 4.6.1.x come on!

Default Impact on Server

Search of RIM knowledge base turns up a document expressing their concern over impact on the server due to increased disk reads.

Jadey mate, you know that, I know that...... 4.5 kicks 4.1's ass on so many levels!

However there is one little problem.....

And he's the little man in Switzerland who's incharge of the datacentre over there for my clients company. he won't give the go ahead for the 8820's to have anything higher that 4.1 on them, and if he see's one pop up on the BES, he throws a hissy fit and asks me ever so politly to grab the BB and change the O/S!!

Even take to the extent that any new 8820's that come from Orange, preloaded with 4.5 on, we have to put 4.1 on them......

Finally tho, any new berrys rolled out from next month will be 8900's, so nothing lower that 4.6.1!

We still have 8700's and even a cpl of 7920's floating around!

I'm on a rant now!!

They never listen to me....*sob*....*sob" it's a task to even have them clear the pending packerts on the server!!

Grrr!!

Oh... poor you hun. At least I have full control over my BES and BBs. Thankfully nobody else here is willing to pretend they know what they are doing, so they all listen to me. Mostly good, but sometimes very bad...

I believe this feature was introduced in BES 4.1.5 with device OS being 4.5 or higher as Jadey stated.

I no I no!! hehe!!

Fortunatly for me, (or not as the case may be!) I'm the only bugger in the UK in the company who has any idea what a bloomin BlackBerry is!! Just a shame I've only limited access to the BES

Ah well, one day I'll rule the world!!
